The culture drives the "State" (and its action). The State can't drive the culture.

BTW, that's why he have Trump as president.

Are you kidding?? We're all trailer trash now. (Bill Clinton grew up as trailer trash and the culture came to adopt him as their president...........trust me, the CULTURE had to change a lot before THAT could ever happen!!)

Even our "tony" zip codes are trailer trash now.

Now THAT'S funny.
Doesn't negate the deserved-shame, but it's still funny.

trivia fact: in the first couple seasons of "happy days" censors wouldn't allow fonzie to be shown in a leather jacket unless he was riding a motorcycle for fear of of promoting a thug. to get around this almost all of his appearances at this time he's in the parking lot sitting on his motorcycle ( the few where he's not he's wearing a windbreaker ).

.... then there's the whole genre of gangster films going back to the 30's.
Fonzie...........lol.
God, you guys crack me up.
Gangs of New York, West Side Story, and now Fonzie.
lol

I've been to Griffith observatory. Nice place, but its better to hike the drive up to.

Anyways you see my point was your surroundings do matter to you, not just your own property/material ownership.

And the things outside of your ownership don't exist in a void, they are a product of society, something you are a part of.

yes or no, was fonzie a representation of a 50's biker?

( also henry winkler had gotten the role based on his work in "the lords of flatbush", about a 1950's brooklyn gang.)

America has always been a kind of trashy place, culturally. America is Europe’s genetic and cultural sewer: a lot of low-lifes and religious nut-jobs emigrated to America back in the day, and made it what it is today. It’s probably why, when compared to other rich countries, we’re almost always near the bottom of the pack in social health metrics (crime, poverty, education, etc.)

Yeah, well how about those gangs in movies like You Got Served, or Step Up 2 the Streets, or many others like that. We were invaded by all of those Breakdancing gangs with dance-offs. I thought the world was coming to an end.

Were gangs family friendly back then?

Im assuming you think the family friendly sword fights in pirates of the Caribbean were historically accurate..
