You would have to ask the White House.

His speech and actions? Subject to opinion, which is all you are giving.

This is the exact mindset behind the Impeachment Hoax. It is now become a common thread within the thought process of Democrats. They claim to know what people think, what is in their minds. They claim to know that even when the supposed " victims" . like the Ukraine president disagree with their narrative, the victim is wrong. They claim to know better than others the " real " content of speech, the real meaning, as if others outside their sphere are clueless. They haven't learned. It is this mindset that contributed to Trump's election.
If that is the WH defense it is weak.

Explains the GOP fall back of them vs. us.

Democratic Rep. Van Drew to vote against Trump impeachment, says others could join him

WASHINGTON — Democratic Rep. Jeff Van Drew said Wednesday that he will vote against articles of impeachment that outline the case for President Trump's removal from office, becoming the first Democrat to publicly say he will not vote with his colleagues.

Van Drew, a Democrat who represents a district in New Jersey that favored Trump by five points in 2016, has been a vocal opponent to the impeachment effort examining whether Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate his political rival, former Vice President Joe Biden. Trump denies the allegations and has called the inquiry a "hoax."

Van Drew said that he did not think Trump's conduct was grounds for impeachment and that impeachment would only end up helping the president in 2020.

"I don't see anything there worthy of actually taking a president out of office," he said. "I'm concerned about splitting our nation apart."

The article tells you why he is voting the way he is. South Jersey. It is what the population of his district wants. It seems to be the way democracy works. You send Reps. to Congress and hope they do what the majority wishes.

Anyone can challenge a subpoena in court. If a rogue Congressional committee decided to issue a subpoena for all of Reed's phone records, emails, texts for the last 10 years you could file a motion to quash the subpoena. This notion that Congress is automatically entitled to anything and everything it demands is poppycock.

That's still no defense strategy, I'm starting to think this President is gonna get his circus-like spectacle of a Senate trial, although it likely won't be 'his day in court' ~ aye there's the rub.

I'm starting to think, by the evidence, this President is indefensible.

The only thing to hear from Fox news is what they say. If it isn't within their News Reporting umbrella , then it is Opinion. Free speech. You are not obligated to listen.
When Trump asked if he had power to pardon himself we knew exactly at that moment what he’s thinking. Considering Trump wants a government ran media he’s not a fan of free speech unless it’s all about him, in a positive way.

To the religious right though, wining the culture war is more important than preserving our constitutional republic. Trump will be acquitted, likely re-elected, and we will slide into theocratic fascism over the next few years.
