Which is exactly what is happening in this case. Nothing irreversible is being done until Ashley is a legal adult and can make the decision for herself. At this time only hormone blockers, which are completely reversible by stopping them, is the only measure being taken.

That's still at least partially permanent. You block hormones early and stop the process later that child will never fully be what he or she was born to be, will never fully develop.
