Read post 45, then get back with us....really...

Yet, someone will eat it. And did you know that he won the auction from a hunting company that was based out of Mongolia?

Charitable giving is fine, but capitalism is even better. They had something of value, a rare trophy, they traded for more money than they'd have made in their lives otherwise. That EARNED money is considerably better than money that is merely given.

Not only do they benefit, but the rare animal benefits because a market for them ensures their survival.

You can think whatever you want about trophy hunters, but they are almost always a VERY good thing for poor 3rd world villages and the animals they hunt.

Why would anyone care that a global elitist killed an animal that is on the "nearly endangered species" list, illegally, then used his connections to retroactively be given a license to do so?

Probably because he's a member of the first family?
I mean....maybe?

I am sure they would sanction hunting humans if they could get away with it.

It's not even a rare animal....you should read all the links that are within the OPs link....it's threatened, not endangered or rare....or just read post 45...

Nope. It's more like saying "I want a cookie.....but there are only a few left, if I take one then they will be that much closer to being gone"

Cookies don't reproduce, sheep do. People will ensure that valuable sheep don't run out, if there's no market for those sheep, who cares what happens to them?
