.....do you have any idea how many other things the Fed is doing, that they have no constitutional authority for?

* Running retirement programs

* regulating workplace conditions
* regulating firearms
* regulating environmental conditions

... just to name a few. There are many more. All are reserved to the states... which means forbidden for the Feds to mess with.

So, go Feds! Vote down that MJ bill! In the long run it will be the best thing you can do for the country.
So don't the Feds simply need to declare all the laws it has against marijuana are repealed and not worry about putting anything in its place?

So I guess you prefer it the way it is now...with the drug cartels controlling the drug trade and raking in Billions...all tax free I might add?!

The cartels are vicious brutal animals...anyone who sides with them or supports drug laws, has to have some screws loose! Why in the world would anyone even create laws that benefit these brutal groups? WOW!

I woulldn't interpret it that way. bawac was just stating the seeming obvious - regardless of what any one of us lowly individuals think, it is extremely unlikely the Senate in its current configuration will legalize marijuana.

I don't. I want it legal. However, the fundamentalist Christian 'Moral Majority' currently rule the USA with an iron fist and it won't be legal anytime soon. Reefer Madness thinking prevails.

If our constitutional republic survives, I'll be able to enjoy legal weed when I'm an old man. It will be nice to use for the pain of aging as opposed to opiates.

By this logic same could be said for ie; Alcohol which is perfectly legal and is responsible for every 1 in 20 deaths.
I'm not here to argue peoples choices, Rather discussing why the government would rather keep alcohol legal that kills hundreds of thousands as opposed to a harmless substance.

My brother died from booze. I say make it all illegal on pain of death.

And “harmless substance” is another ignorant phrase. Nothing harmless about dope.

It wasn't the fundamentalist Christians who got marijuana illegal the first time. It was cotton growers. They didn't want the completion from hemp.

So you want to execute the 55% of Americans who regularly consume alcohol.

You’re completely insane.

bwac has to blame everything on those evil bible thumpers. Anything goes wrong in his life or the world and it is the Conservative Christian Right that is to blame.

Oddly enough, I lean right and am all for the legalization, and decriminalization of it. I would love to see the hemp industry rise up as well.
