Why would anyone want to migrate to a country they call blatantly racist anyway? I don't oppose legal immigration in controlled numbers from most countries but what happened in 1965 was too many too fast and did nothing to aid in assimilation because of that.
Racial segregation/sepratism not the answer. Sure better spending 8b on diversity training rather than Afghanistan or some other endless war. Race relations will continue to improve...best to look for ways to continue fixing problems (diversity training is one way) rather than complaining and denying that racism exists.
What other ways can race relations be improved?
I'm not calling for racial segregation/separatism either. I don't want segregation. I just asked that person his/her opinion on what to do about the situation.
Things are certainly better than they were in the 1950s or 1960s. At the same time, there are still many bigoted people out there who will never change. I'm not against diversity training. I also look at the problem from this perspective. Some people will only go through the motions, and obstinately hold on to their bigoted attitudes. There are times when I feel like force needed in order to stop discrimination and other things related to racism.
Why should China be allowed to emigrate people here? What did China ever do for America or anyone else? We saved them in WWII, then they turned around and fought at least two huge wars by proxy against us. We helped them lift themselves out of poverty and they attempt to steal from us blind. China to this day basically allows no one to naturalize. There's no reason to allow immigration especially from a hostile and nationalist and supremacist nation just because you want it and you'll call people names if they oppose it.
Well Chinese laborers built large portions of our transcontinental railroad system. China has been the originator of many of the world's inventions. China has contributed a great deal to humanity. I will say we do have a strained relationship with China and their political system isn't great for it's people and shouldn't be trusted, that doesn't mean we should halt all immigration from China.
Are you saying we shouldn't let in people from countries that we helped out in a war, and supposedly have never done anything for us? We can certainly make the argument of whether we should allow nationals from other countries come in and buy up a lot of our real estate and infrastructure; I can certainly see the merit in rethinking this idea. This could have some negative impacts on our economy overall and other sectors; although I'm not well read on this subject.
At this point, why should we let Russians into the country since we fought many proxy wars with them. So if someone totally rejects the Chinese government and wants to come over to the US and contribute, and we have a need for them in this country; we should just say sorry you were born in the wrong country? I don't want to base this country's immigration policies off of China's either. You know I heard North Korea doesn't allow much immigration into their country, should we base our immigration policy off of theirs? I understand the need to control immigration into our country, but completely cutting it off is not a good policy to uphold. And basing our immigration off of race and national origin is despicable, I'm glad we have moved on from those policies.
If reading cd is the standard, blacks and whites are at war. in my experience, black workers are helpful and pleasant. i never seek out a black worker for help, however. I avoid black workers in favor of other races when I have a choice in check out lines because I don't want to get involved in any grievance blacks might accuse me of.
Sorry, but that site is a far left liberal leaning one. They want you to believe that crap. They also have a tendency to blur the lines between legal and illegal "immigrants". I go by what I hear and see in public. I already said that race means nothing to me so why would you make that accusation? I said a cohesive society bound by a common culture is what is important to me. Mutt simply means mixed so it's not an inappropriate description of our nation today.
Okay here is Wikipedia (which doesn't lie) on racism in the United States...still waiting for some solutions from you on how to improve race relations. Take a look and criticize Wikipedia too if you like...
Race relations are bad? I didn't get the memo. Then again, I'm 24.
Today marks 10 months of dating my beautiful girlfriend. She's biracial white/Asian from the Southwestern US, and I'm a (mostly) black dude from Philly. I'm still high off of flying across the country to spend Thanksgiving with her family. I spent a week eating delicious food, conversing with her parents, and meeting her extended family--all of whom loved me. Before we left, I spent Friendsgiving with her friends. I was the only black dude at the table, but that didn't matter.
I'm currently writing this while sitting in a cushy office tower in Philly. I'm one of the few black people who work in my company's finance department. Nobody holds that against me, and my contributions are valued just as much as everyone else's. After work, my girl and I will most likely have a nice dinner at a restaurant in a mostly white neighborhood. Nobody passes an eye at us, and nobody has questioned my presence in upscale restaurants with mostly white clientele.
I believe that the only people who think that race relations are getting "worse", are gloom-and-doom Boomers and older Gen X-ers. Race relations are just fine for Gen Z!
I believe that at best, the races can have fairly decent, yet fragile, relationships. Put a little heat on that dynamic and it goes to pot.
At this point, there is a lot of heat on race-relationships in the USA........the tribalism that has always been there, is turning into something that is flaunted, nasty and unrestrained, as opposed to tempered and low-key, like it should be, for the good of the very artificial-construct called society.
Actually, things were alot worse going into the 1960s.
We can start with all the race riots America has had.
You have a couple black friends. Not much more than that by design. I don't have more than a few white acquaintances and have little if anything in common with them when it comes down to things such as physical features and traits, motivations, spirituality, life experiences, and culture. Again, whether people want to except it or not, the majority of blacks are not much like whites and vice versa. The problem with white America is needing so badly to have a free labor, low wage workforce but refusing to rely on themselves totally for it. If that would have been done, no need for segregation and diversity in the first place.
I don't agree with you at all. I have black neighbors who talk about the same things as anyone else. I just got out of a relationship with a black man and we had as much in common as any white men I meet. Physical features become less and less noticeable the more you are around them until they are basically non existent. Mainly it's COMPLEXION. Though I think black men have softer skin, which is interesting.
I don’t know if it’s about race or something in the water but I see a lot of hate and violence out there that was not there before
Probably the worst is most of it seems to be fueled by the belief that my stuff should be your stuff
