When was there a time in which the GOP didn't control the senate trial?

Of course she's not going to pressure them, they might lose their seats if in purple states. She ain't that dumb. She's a crafty old codger.

Vulnerable House Democrats are 'walking the plank for impeachment'. They were already facing tough races in November. Voting this way means they will not face tough primary races as well. If they are already goners, then might as well go down with the ship. Or something.

Vulnerable House Democrats Walk the Plank for Impeachment

Perhaps in the minds of some Democrats today, voting for impeachment isn’t going to make that big a difference. Most of the 31 House Democrats representing districts that Trump carried in 2016 were probably always going to face tough reelection fights, particularly in a presidential cycle with higher turnout. Many of them may have concluded they were goners either way and decided to vote their consciences. And many of them are also aware that voting against impeachment would almost certainly ensure a well-funded primary challenger, eager to flay them for betraying the party and selling out to Trump.

But it’s still striking that, as of this writing, it appears all but a handful of the Democrats elected in 2018 are willing to vote for impeachment. Either Nancy Pelosi’s ability to enforce party discipline is as formidable as it’s purported to be, quite a few of them think impeachment is worth losing their seats, or both.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the "or something" is that a right wing publication like National Review is hardly an authoritative source of what Democrats think

At the same time, any left wing publication that believes that Trump district Democrats are not 'walking the plank' by voting for impeachment are apparently delusional. Just because the leftist twitter-verse says otherwise is not a reflection of reality.

Except of course that those Democrats won in 2018, so it's just as foolhardy to assume that those districts will necessarily vote for Trump in 2020. I'm not saying they will all flip blue or even that a lot of them will. I just think it's not 2016 this time and anyone who assumes it is may be in for a rude awakening
