Heard today that a secret service agent reported that there have been over 20 attempts on President Trump's life. It goes unreported because they don't want President Trump to get any sympathy. This is sickening.

Trust me - if there was a serious attempt on Trump's life - the media would report it.

They have one God. RATINGS.

I am sure many of those attempts were suspicious packages mailed to the White House, probably leaking white powder. If someone took a pot shot at Trump, it would be big news. All President attract nut cases.

Yeah. Every clown trying to jump the White House fence counts, ever errant golf ball out there on the links. If anyone seriously tried to knock him off, Trump would be on twitter playing his victim cards. It would be featured BS in the rallies. We would never hear the end of it.

One attempt from within our own military ranks, while AF1 was airborne

More likely, it goes unreported because they don't want to encourage copycats.

If a so-called attack is nothing more than a suspicious package mailed to the White House, and later proven to be dangerous, then reporting it just might encourage others to do the same. In other words, if the attack was at arms-length and put Mr. Trump in no danger whatsoever, why report it, if doing so might encourage copycats? However, if somebody starts shooting at Mr. Trump's motorcade, as it drives by, it would be news, and watching half-a-dozen cops either shoot the shooter, or take the shooter down in a gang tackle, might discourage others from doing so.

It's the same reason you never hear about subway suicides. People try to kill themselves in subway systems every day (source: a friend of mine who operated a Toronto subway train for years), but you never hear about it. Why? To discourage copycats who hear of it in the media, and think, "Hey, I'll do that too!"

The threat can be nothing but a letter or a phone message.
Obama got way more than 20, and I'm sure Trump has, too. Like you mentioned, the Secret Service wants no copycats, so they're never going to say much about the nature of the threats, and they won't ever mention specifically how many threats there have been.

The less people know about this stuff, the safer the President is.

So true. Trump would remind us every day, how invincible he is, surviving attacks on his life.
