It might. Then again, what are those guys going to do for income after that happens?
I don't mean to be facetious about this, it's a conversation I've had with my friend who on occasion has legal clients that are drug dealers etc.
No education, priors arrests, gang affiliations...what are these guys going to do if drugs are legal?
Well, look at what criminals did after alcohol prohibition ended.
If you really want to be shocked, check out the county that these neighborhoods are in, I guarantee, a LARGE majority of the arrests are going to be for drug or drug related crime...if the drug war ended, it would be a disaster for law enforcement and prisons, they would loose a HUGE percentage of their 'job security'.
There is just not enough 'other crime' to justify such a large law enforcement community.
So when people watch videos like this do they imagine that the entire city looks like the very worst part of the worst neighbors? The city was at its overall worse in the late 80s/90s imo. The crack epidemic really destroyed the African American parts of the city. Problems in the city began long before that though. Redlining, industrial decline, white flight, civil unrest, etc. doomed Philadelphia.
The city has been reviving over the course of the last decade and a half. Census estimates for 2019 show a population gain of 100,000 residents in the last 10 years after the city lost nearly a 1,000,000 over a 60+ year period. Tax revenues are through the roof. city’s school district has got two historic credit boosts over the last 12 months and is now one a way from
Investment level. While the murder rate has ticked up over the last two years, violent crime remains at a near 50 year low in Philadelphia.
Basically my point being is Philadelphia was down and out for a very long time. It just seems somewhat naive to me that now is the correct time to crap on it. Nonetheless the fact that Philadelphia’s metro is a very nice and expensive place to live in general.
100,000 over the last TWENTY years, maybe. And a huge chunk of that growth is illegal immigrants. Not good. Much like NYC and other cities, Philadelphia would be dead on the vine if it wasn’t for importing the third world.
Philadelphia lost 25% of its population between 1960 and 2010. Then it said, “hey, let’s get lots of illegals from the third world to live here!”
Problem solved.
lol
(By the way, whites in Philly dropped from 2/3 of the population in 1970 to 1/3 today. Basically, any whites who could get out did so....except for white leftists riddled with white guilt.)

Wow, that is a vast and inaccurate generalization. Many (middle middle) whites leave the city with children for better schools, but the city is still filled with professionals that are highly successful people. The downtown area population is second to Manhatten for those residing in downtown areas. Those people residing downtown and many of the areas surrounding it are rarely exposed to the bad elements of the city.
There are yuppy parts of Philly. I hear the Mainline is nice. The northeast is a solid working class area. South Philly around where Geno's and Pat's is gentrifying.

The City still has over 500,000 white people within it's borders and I can tell you that "white leftists riddled with white guilt" are not even remotely a majority. I'm also glad that you specified that those suffering from white guilt are in fact white as opposed to the black population suffering from it as well.
I've watched the decline of Philadelphia over the past , neighborhoods that were well kept, safe, and family friendly have been replaced by neighborhoods you are afraid to drive through, even with your doors locked and windows up. All the decent people have moved to the suburbs to get away from it.
It all boils down to the kind of people who inhabit those areas. When you get broken families, drugs, and people who prefer to make money illegally, rather than work for a living, this is what you get.
Watched it from where? Probably not here. If you did you would know that the city has improved markedly and population is being added year after year.
This is a vibrant city with a thriving culture and loads of amenities. The climate is moderate and the cost of living is very low for what you get.
Every city has its crappy areas. Philadelphia is no different. Spend an afternoon in the Old City where the Declaration of Independence was written and signed, where Benjamin Franklin lived, where Betsy Ross created the American Flag, where Washington and Adams spent their Presidencies or to Valley Forge where Washington wintered his troups. If you do that you will connect to our great nations roots like you can not do anywhere else.
You love this country? Come see where it all began. I'm confident you will be pleasantly surprised at what you see.
Many American cities have been this violent for decades, going as far back as the Depression. Memphis was the murder capital of the USA as far back as 1910.
