Since 1776 we’ve gone from single shot muskets and pistols to semi-automatic muskets, shotguns, and handguns while the government now has smart bombs, Predator missile armed drones, and long range artillery. How are we supposed to defend against tyranny with those odds? The only thing our weapons are good for anymore is shooting each other — if we can manage to keep them out of the hands of mentally disturbed family members with a death wish.
Again, nobody wants crazy people and criminals with guns .... other than crazy people and criminals. However, rational, logical, and wise people understand the slippery slope of allowing certain “common sense” limits and restrictions as nothing more than “the foot in the door” approach to further and further limits and restrictions, with the ultimate goal of confiscation. It’s the slow boiling of the frog, who doesn’t notice the water temp rising, and sits there until cooked to death.
You are getting good at speaking out of both sides of your mouth.
Make up your mind and run with it.
This is the 2nd time you accidentally say the same thing I said, and no doubt you'll walk it back again when you realize you are contradicting yourself.
Sometimes you have common sense, and sometimes only ideological talking points.
As you can see from my comments I would favor very few additions to the laws we already have, and based on NRA survey most gun owners in US agree with me.
I favor a national CCW permit which requires the things I mentioned (practically all already exist), and even today the basic handling course it included in CCW class, and criminal background check is also included.
Perhaps you just like to disagree for the sake of disagreeing.
Another problem with what’s left of the Second Amendment is even that part doesn’t seem to be working right. I could be wrong but it seems there are far more bad people shooting good people than good people shooting bad people these days. Odds are that the next news story about somebody shooting somebody is going to be the former and not the latter.

The point is not to get a higher bad guy body count. The point is to protect yourself. If you can do so by just showing your gun instead of firing it or without killing anyone that is still a legitimate defensive gun use.
And it's not just about bad people. I've had to draw a gun twice in my life, both times on animals.
