You err in the assumption that Trump's support is merely from his base. When half of America thinks that the Democratic party has moved too far left, it indicates a massive blow-back come election time. But go ahead, encourage the Dems to continue with their impeachment (which the majority does not support) and to continue running candidates that support higher taxes and bigger government.
And prioritize illegal aliens over Americans. The Dem candidates are actually running on a platform of preferring law-breaking foreigners to Americans.

His support is pretty anemic when you consider the state of the economy, never saw a president that had these types of numbers and such a large disproval rating. Why do you suppose that's the case.
The house just passed a record spending bill after a record tax cut, it is expected that the senate and Trump will approve. Believing that either party support spending cuts is pure fantasy, but the republicans do love their tax cuts and deficits.

Strange when you think about it, if Trump is so successful as people claim why did he need to go to this extent to get rid of a candidate. If he was so successful why did he go to this extent.

It's a new era of American politics. We live in more and more polarized times. In this case, Democrats will never admit to liking a Republican, at least publicly, even if their 401k is doing good. But when it comes to vote, they may just sit it out when they see the clowns your party is propping up.

No president has won the presidential election with such polling as Trump did, but it will be the new normal.

Here's an overview...

The Senate will nullify today's vote.
Trump & his agenda remain.
More Federal Judge appointments.
Biden's Ukranian quid pro quo is now common knowlege.
The Dems top 2 Presidential hopefuls, 2 rich old White men, 1 Socialist, 1 influence peddler
Economy is strong.
Obamacare failed to fix healthcare, & costs rose.
Dems have not governed in 3 years.
Trump is overwhelming favorite in 2020 election.

Not just renewed support, but vastly increased support among minorities, independents, and virtually all of non-coastal US voters.

And oh yeah, btw, the greatest counterpuncher in US political history has slipped the Democrat's biggest haymaker and now has the widest open counterpunch opportunity of all time.

All the vote does today is decide at which point and how badly the Dems lose to Trump in the political long game. If they fail to impeach today, it's their BEST CASE scenario. Everything that happens after today is worse and worse for them. The hysterics will get what they think is the scalp, but Trump, McConnell and the 2020 voters are going to leave a trail of destruction right through the heart of the entire Democrat machinery.

The funny thing is, even a casual observer can see all this coming, if they simply remove the partisan lenses blinding them to political and electoral realities.

Let's get some ideas for $$ here?
Hmm, did the Democrats finally discover some evidence to support their impeachment articles?

Yes there are Democrats who are sane. I know there are still intelligent Democrats, who can despise Trump, and also see thru this sham of an impeachment, at the same time. Sadly, the Democrat leadership have lost their minds.

The Democrat leadership just wants to impeach Trump. In their loony minds, impeaching Trump will justify opposing everything he does because he will supposedly be an illegitimate President since he was impeached.

My suspicions are that the dems hope they can regain the Senate, and if they do.... they will justify opposing every single judge he tries to appoint in his second term, cuz he was impeached.

I would just add, history will remember this as the first impeachment where no crime was committed, or even charged.

There is an implication that goes with that, so I think the impeachment will be viewed by historians skeptically. Like Clinton, it was a partisan attack. But at least with Clinton, an actual law was broken.
