IF she wanted a “showdown” and decision from SCOTUS or any other Federal Court ... they would have actually issued Subpoenas to Bolton and Mullvany. They already know how the Courts will rule.

More likely they are worried about RBG and a Supreme Court Nomination.
Theory will be “an Impeached President can’t make a Nomination.” Of course there is no Impeachment until the Articles go to the Senate .... so that won’t work. They are counting on the Media Wing of the DNC to promote their Fairytale.

There's no restriction on an impeached President on making a nomination anyway.

Really? Dershowitz is considered one of the leading constitutional experts - From Wikipedia

Alan Morton Dershowitz is an American lawyer and academic. He is a scholar of United States constitutional law and criminal law who has been described as a "noted civil libertarian". He began his teaching career at Harvard Law School where, in 1967, at the age of 28, he became the youngest full professor of law in its history.

You really don't know what an impeachment is, do you?

Default If/when Pelosi finally sends the articles to the Senate, is there any reason why they have to hold the trial right away?

Clearly the Democrats are fine with holding things up interminably, for vague and unspecified reasons.

So they will surely approve of the Senate doing the same thing, right?

Say, until 2024?

OTOH, maybe what the Democrat fanatics wanted all along, is to be able to hang the word "impeachment" around Trump's neck without giving him a chance to do anything about it or defend himself. Trump has said he wants the Senate to act quickly so his lawyers can start rebutting them Demis, call their own witnesses etc. to prove him innocent.

A trial in the Senate would be interesting to watch but it wouldn't change anyone's mind.

The Dems see the shaky hearsay, water cooler evidence as a slam dunk that Trump is the Devil but for the rest of us that don't suffer from TDS we are wondering where is the actual evidence that Trump violated the law?

Nancy pants can drag her feet as the Dems no doubt try to go to work on some of the Reps in the Senate so they will vote to impeach.

What is really crazy is that the Dems have put Trump into a very exclusive club and they have made him even more of a victim with this impeachment nonsense. If the economy is still chugging along in Nov. the voters will see the Democrats as petty and vicious people that are bitter that Trump dared to spoil their plans in 2016.

A trial would be interesting but also a big waste of time and money. It is better for the country to get this over quickly.

I do wonder though if the Senate did hold a trial and Senator after Senator came to the podium to support Trump, the truth and denounce the Dems if CNN and their like would be so eager to cover it?

Without impeachment I think Trump would win by 70 in 2020, now he'll win by 100.

Agreed- dems don't care about the Constitution or the rule of law, only political tribalism.

The only thing protecting US citizens from a liberal fascist state is the Constitution, which is why liberals hate it.
