Whether or not the driver was carrying a gun legally, he more than likely owes his life to it.

Good question. Probably forbids it (almost every business does to avoid the potential liability if the employee shoots someone illegally or in error etc.) but the guy likely figured that if he ever really needed it that it was worth getting fired over.

Without checking the state, company policy and so forth I'd think there is a good chance he ends up getting fired over this. (But this is just an educated guess, so take that with a grain of salt.)
