Yeah, I would vote for even Bernie if it came down to it over Trump. And trust that the system of checks and balances would prevent any real dramatic changes anyway. People act like if someone like him gets in we'll turn socialist overnight. Impossible. Would just be a continuation of the obstructionism cycle we've been in for some time now, which is inherently conservative.

You know, I watched Trumps rally last night, and the way he speaks is rough and makes me cringe sometimes and laugh other times. But, I like what he is doing for the country on many aspects with trade, taxes, border security, and jobs. His policies actually lean more moderate really, he's open for more *legal* merit based immigration to fill new worker positions for example. I'm a walkway dem for now, because they've gone way too extreme left and no longer represent the needs and wants of the citizens of the US. I haven't seen the Dems remotely interested in putting up anyone with a more moderate lean. Unless that happens, Trump has my vote for 2020.

Except in reality he has been attacking legal migration too.

I agree with this, I’m just an independent who wants someone with rational policies.

I voted for Obama in 2008 & 2012.

I voted for Trump in 2016.

I was pissed off at the backtracking of Universal Background Checks and was open to Democrats, but the impeachment process is such a sham in my eyes that I’m going to not only be sticking with Trump, I’m going to vote Republican down the line as a message to the mainstream media and to Democrats that the extremists in their party are cancer, get them out or at the very least not bend to their every will.

I hope he is challenged from within the GOP by someone like Rand Paul. Then there is Tulsi.
I’m not very hopeful this will be anything different than 2016 with two dismal candidates. This whole impeachment thing and the way the Democrats handled it has me so ticked I’ll probably vote for the impeached Russkie-lover.

What will happen is that the independent voter will go down and vote for their choice and then later on their wasted vote will go to one of the arse hats belonging to one of the two parties. So nothing will happen other then said person thinking they voted with their conscious.

I would most definitely not vote for Trump as I have negative opinions of him in a very systemic and holistic manner (from his attitude that he is above the law, unsettledness about his collusion with Russian interference in the elections, to the constant disparaging comments and bad example he sets for our youth to my disagreement with him on most policy matters). I may vote for a more moderate Republican with strong leadership, and respect for the rule of law and others who didn't agree with them, if one emerged, and may even do that in the primary (where I get to pick what party's ballot I get) just to show dissatisfaction with Trump.

On the Democratic side, I'm just not feeling Biden. The Ukraine issue feels very questionable and sketchy to me and Biden just seems befuddled and confused in general. I'm not sure he's mentally very sharp these days, and can't imagine this being any better 4+ years from now though he may have been better in his prime.

I'm concerned about Elizabeth Warren because she just doesn't seem to connect with large swaths of the country, and seems like she would be the President of Portland, DC, San Francisco, or Chicago, but her nor her policies would really connect with rural, more moderate middle America. Maybe even less than Bernie Sanders. He would get called a communist, but at least he would try to connect with and listen to Americans who didn't vote for him (as he even spoke at Liberty University which is a conservative stronghold).

I'm not a fan of Bloomberg because I feel like he has too much of a reputation as a nanny state proponent, and while Trump seems to be all about de-regulation (where de-regulation can be a very bad idea), Bloomberg seems like he would take this over to the opposite extreme on who knows what (NYC, remember the "Big Gulp Ban"?). Plus, I really don't want another billionaire feeling that he can lord over us and act like a king.

Sanders really isn't viable because although I see validity with his concerns over income inequality, how he makes that happen in a constitutional way (which would probably get roadblocked anyway by Congress) without getting us trillions and trillions more debt than we already are is a bit of a mystery. And he's just too far to the left to get any traction in a lot of the country, even though, as I mentioned before, he would try to connect with even conservative voters.

I would vote for a more moderate Democrat as well if there was one with strong leadership but without the steamroller attitude that we currently have. I was not impressed with Hillary Clinton in 2016 and did not vote for her, by the way.

And why are the candidates all so elderly? I know there are some extremely sharp minds that are older, but having so many candidates who are consistently so advanced in age (along with most other elected officials, particularly at the federal level) has a way of skewing public policy in a way that doesn't always serve the interests of different generations so evenly.

So, to get back to the question, at this point, I just don't know but am not feeling especially impressed with anybody right now.
