It really never made any sense that this research was blocked for decades, a step in the right direction.

Congress has reached a spending agreement that includes $25 million for gun violence research, the first funding in more than 20 years to study a problem that kills 40,000 people annually.
The money will be split evenly between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health.

While the allocation is less than the $50 million the House authorized for gun violence and safety research in a budget bill it passed in June, Dr. Mark Rosenberg, who ran the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control in the 1990s, called the funding a gesture of historic proportions.

The CDC did gun research for Obama, but it went against the left's agenda, so it was not widely released. It turned out that people with CCWs were less likely to commit crime than the police. And there was around one million defensive gun uses each year. It was not what they wanted.

You mean the cursory study that recommended more research is needed. No extensive study has been done for 20 years, like the professor stated “there is no upside to ignorance”.

So most of this cash is going to suicide study? Because that's the biggest cause. That should be easy eh?

They were given and spent $10 million on that study. Since the vast majority of gun deaths are suicides and gang shootings they should study those. And they will realize, there is nothing they can do.

Divided between the NIH and CDC, the research will go wherever it goes.

People wanting to die will find a way and about 60% of gun deaths are suicides.
