Scenes from Los Angeles homeless encampment fires just in the last 4 days. As homeless try to avoid dying of hypothermia.

No tally yet for this year, but looks like homeless encampment fires according to news reports happened nearly 2,500 times in 2018.

Insurance companies are starting to raise premiums and looking into cancelling policies in residential neighborhoods with homeless encampment as when the temperature drops the homeless do what they can to keep warm in the hypothermia death capitol of America.

Hmmm... I guess if you are homeless, you don't have any building codes or laws that apply, and they can just do whatever - even if it burns down the city.

Winter sucks but does a great job of making people NOT want to be homeless.

If you think state regulators will let companies use reasoned explanations to stop writing policies due to the states governance creating a problem you are sorely mistaken.

In reality the state will drag the company through the media mud and accuse them of everything from racism to gouging to causing the homeless problem to worsen.

Home and auto insurance are super regulated and extremely political.

Um, nope.

I can tell you've never been there. It's the land of wall-to-wall subdivisions and strip malls. For hundreds of square miles. It isn't poor people buying those homes and doing all that shopping.
