'Awakening': Black voters 'abandoned' by Democrats warm to Trump

“There is an awakening going on right now in the country,” Mr. Brewer said of black voters who traditionally support Democrats. “I’m going to take the guy who’s actually putting in the policies that are going to make life better for my young black son and my young black daughter, versus somebody who gives me lip service — like, unfortunately, the Democrats have done for our community for years.”

...
“The Democrats have let you down,” Mr. Trump told black supporters at the time. “They’ve dismissed you. They’ve hurt you. They’ve sabotaged you for far too long.”

The campaign also has paid for full-page, full-color advertisements promoting Mr. Trump in 11 local black newspapers across the nation, and radio spots on urban radio stations nationwide.

...
Said another Trump adviser, “One thing the president’s done is to try to govern for everybody. Even those who didn’t vote for him in the last election are now seeing a lot of results in their communities, and we’re seeing the poll numbers amongst all those groups grow in a way that creates a lot of opportunities.”

It's not about poll numbers... it's about making life better. And if Trump is doing the job, he deserves to be re-elected.

If Trump is so keen on getting black votes why doesn't he get the GOP to stop purging voter rolls which disproportionately take black names off of voter rolls......

Whether black, white, yellow, blue or whatever. if you're not a US citizen and alive, there's no reason why your name should be on the list.

Common names likely. I mean several decades ago my father and his father signed on each other's line. My father is a Jr. and the poll worker didn't notice the Sr. signing Jr.'s line and vice versa. I can imagine a lot of the bad names that shouldn't be are John Smiths and Jim Johnsons.

The only voter rolls being purged are those inactive or that have evidence that show they moved. And if someone is accidentally/incorrectly purged, they can easily reregister to vote either beforehand or at the polls. Its not a permanent purge. In addition there is nothing purging just black people. Its anyone inactive or that has something like a change of address card in that shows they moved.

So it's only good to purge the voter rolls if it doesn't involve blacks?

purges disproportionately affected minority or low-income voters in certain communities, and white voters in others. In Cincinnati, poverty rates and voter removals appeared interrelated, while race appeared to affect the removal of voters in rural Hancock County, Georgia. In Vermillion County, Indiana, a shrinking population accounted for large numbers of white registered voters being removed from the rolls.

said he was surprised by the lack of a pattern in the national findings, although hidden patterns of discrimination can be found on the local level. “Sometimes you have to look under the hood,” McDonald said.

One in eight Americans move every year and often remain registered in two places. Few cancel their old registrations.

In the two years leading up to the 2014 election, Vermillion County Clerk Florinda Pruitt scrubbed nearly 4 registrants in 10 in the small western county of corn and soybean fields.

Most of the 1,191 voters were removed in the current election cycle because of death or change of address, a News21 analysis found.

LMAO...Trump isn’t making ANY inroads to the black community. None.

Saying his name in any black circles produces audible eye rolls that are deafening. It’s the easiest way to put a room full of black folks into a foul mood.

Stop it. We haven’t had a single election since 2016 that has born out any increase in support for Trump.

Yes, Trump should depend on receiving 89% of the black vote. Go MAGA. No worries, it's a done deal.
