That's what they thought about alcohol during prohibition. All it did was push otherwise honest people into the hands of criminal gangsters funneling their product through the black market. More people were harmed by prohibition than we helped, and the same exact thing happened with marijuana. Do you think prohibition of alcohol helped society?

I believe I read a study showing that the average tobacco user has a lower IQ, and score lower on academic tests, than non users. But so far as I know, no one is proposing a total and complete ban on tobacco use. Why is that?

I personally believe stupid people are more likely to be drawn to marijuana, which can partly explain why the average marijuana user is a little stupider than the average non user. A lot of stupid people are also drawn to tobacco and alcohol just the same.
So far as reports indicate, tobacco isn't also inducing ER visits for episodes of acute psychosis. The hypothalamus, which is a component of memory, is also at chronic risk from weed smoke if medical anecdotes from at least 40 years ago are any indication.

That is precisely why drug laws remain in place today...they do nothing but benefit the criminal drug cartels and give them a lucrative market to sell their products in.

Ive said it before on here...anyone who supports drug laws, is taking sides with the drug cartels (they want drug laws to remain in place too).

I never claimed tobacco can cause psychosis. Using too much of anything can cause problems. It can be very easy to take too much edible marijuana products, and end up with extremely unpleasant complications like panic attacks and probably psychosis. These edibles can take up to 4 hours to have an effect, so some people will redose too soon, thinking the first dose was too low, and end up taking too much as a result. Some people have actually committed suicide will bonked out of their minds on marijuana edibles.

Taking too much of anything can be detrimental for the user.

How many ODs are we dealing with on a daily basis due to opiates? Wouldn't we see fewer ODs if people were using weed instead of heroin? USA has bigger fish to fry.

Drug cartels have never operated at greater volume within California than today.

Thank the democrat's wide open borders

And let's not forget, marijuana is still illegal according to the federal government, so the black market is alive and well in the USA. The cartels are also much more involved in cocaine and heroin these days, not so much weed, which is a labor intensive product to cultivate and a little more tricky to transport.

All the same, you know I'm drawing a distinction between tobacco and cannabis by posting reports connecting cannabis to episodes of psychosis.

OK, you may be right about that one thing, marijuana use contributes to psychosis...but overall, tobacco is MUCH MUCH more dangerous and deadly

Willie Nelson announced last week he quit smoking marijuana cigarettes because he says they were causing the same kinds of health problems for him as any other cigarette does.

It made a boatload of money for a small segment of society.

And what is this "cannabis psychosis" that we've really only been hearing about for a short while, outside of the "Reefer Madness" bulls#!t propaganda?

My husband uses cannabis for some of the symptoms of Parkinson's and has never been psychotic. What really screwed him up was one new whiz-bang Parkinson's drug after another. He's dying. Why should I allow the medical industrial complex to make his last days even more miserable than they already are?
