I can not support sanctuary cities nor illegals coming here and using America like a piggy bank only to send the money out of the country. My guess is that it's a political strategy to win the Hispanic vote? I also can't respect a president that allowed illegals to work in his golf clubs well into his presidency. Big business wants cheap labor, big business gets cheap labor. We all know big money runs this country on both sides. Just because the DNC far left fanatics tout open borders doesn't mean it's what the whole party wants. Obama was a big de-porter of illegals, and he built a wall that didn't stop but a few. Elected officials look the other way when big donors want what they want. No need to hate one party or the other over it. They both do it.

And, no, it was not as quick if a process as you think. It was often the second or third generation that learned English.

And yet, who is using chain migration to bring unemployed people to the US? Who got Melania a fake genius green card? The guy who rails against it. H-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e Trump.

The republicans had a congressional majority for two years and left out e-verify or any punishment to businesses in that immigration bill.

Trump has been VERY vocal about stopping chain migration. He has cited the atrocities over and over where up to 15 family members are allowed in. In fact I learned about chain migration from listening to Trump explain it.
It’s congress that won’t deal with it.

Prove it! Even when the GOP has introduced an e-verify bill the Democrats have voted it down unless there was a massive amnesty attached to it. One party can't pass a bill all on their own without some support from the other party and there never was a filibuster proof majority. It was in the bi-partisan Gang of Eight bill but again the Democrats had amnesty in it and wouldn't pass it without it.

Also, the Democrats had a majority during the Obama administration. Why didn't they pass an e-verify bill or even introduce one?

According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office illegal/legal immigrants are estimated to pay in about $7 billion per year into Social Security. Look at the federal, state, and local taxes as well where they pay taxes in the billions as well. Something the president and his rich buddies don't do.

Yes, it is irrelevant.

The pace of progress, access to media and education today means that English language is easier than ever to learn.

And the immigrants WOULD learn.... If the US would stop accommodating non-assimilation tendencies and providing services in foreign languages.

The US should move to an Australian points system where English language speaking is considered a plus on approval of an immigration application.

It's 2020. Not 1905. The needs of the country have changed. The economy has changed. The future is not going to be built on shoveling in uneducated laborers when millions of jobs in the coming decades are going to be automated.

(And by the way, NECESSITY drives innovation in the fields of automation as well. Already there are advancements being made in agribusiness and food processing which should obviate future need for the pseudo slave conditions illegal laborers are operating under because farmers are too cheap to pay decent wages. We do not help the process along by ensuring - and EXCUSING - unlimited supply of desperate workers).

LOL! Clearly you don't know the difference. An "immigrant" is someone who came here in accordance with our laws. An "illegal alien" is NOT an "immigrant".

I would say that some of the general population is dehumanizing them. Now obviously some of them are career criminals but I reject the idea of painting them all as people who are simply trying to see how much they can get away with. Frankly there are some AMERICANS who don’t need to have their asses in this country either (e.g. serial rapists, murderers, etc). It be nice to start exiling some of them.
All illegal aliens are criminals. The term "honest illegal alien" is an oxymoron.
