In this country we dismiss cases outright without trial when they are brought without even so much as an allegation of a crime having been committed. We then punish the corrupt prosecutor that attempted to push that kind of case.
In this country, we do not hold a trial by refusing to call first hand witnesses to the crime.
The only reason not to want to call witnesses before a Senate trial is because you are rooting for a particular outcome and have no interest in learning the truth and having the Senate reach an informed decision.

If there's no crime, as is the case in this situation, the case would be dismissed without any witnesses called and the corrupt prosecutor would be punished.

Or because there's no reason to waste any more time on malicious and frivolous nonsense like this. Democrats got their partisan sham in the House but it's time for the adults to put this to an end.

According to the polls, at least half of the country sees this as something other than "frivolous nonsense" and would like the truth to come out rather than be suppressed. Funny how certain parties who used to declare their love of governmental transparency suddenly have an interest in opacity when it suits their outcome-based political preferences.
