No sheep is safe in some of these red States, especially New Years night.
It depends on what places you go to. St. Louis is a blue city in a red state (Missouri is a very Republican state). So is Austin, Texas. Austin isn't headlining for any violence on New Years Day. Austin is basically as liberal as they come, and it has a very low murder rate. Austin is probably at 1 million people already and gets at more 35 murders in a year (about 3 murders a month). St. Louis has had a very high murder rate for years, and just keeps getting worse.
Virginia is a bluish/purple state. Virginia's most murderous large city, Richmond, is far less violent than St. Louis. It was a murderous city at one point, but it's improved alot. Atlanta,GA has seen a big drop in its murder rate over the last decade. Baltimore, on the other hand, keeps getting worse. I think it's important to look at every city individually. And look at every state individually. Consider this. Missouri is about 11% Black, and a red state. Virginia is close to 20% Black, and a bluish-purple state. Virginia is doing much better in terms of murder rates, violent crime rates, than Missouri. Virginia's worst large city can't compare to Missouri's worst. What's going on there? Better yet, why is majority-Black Atlanta improving in terms of getting its murder rate down, but St. Louis and Baltimore keep getting worse?

Blue cities in red or blue states have the highest violent crime rates. That includes murder, rape, assault, child molestation.
Missouri has a Republican Governor, and it has Republican House and Republican Senate, so maybe they should shoulder some of the responsibility for fixing the issues in their own State. Why else would they even exist?
When Miami was the murder capital of US in the 80s, our Governor took action and even got the FBI and DEA involved in stopping the cocaine wars. It worked.
Why are Missouri Governor and lawmakers choosing the point fingers as opposed to taking action?
There used to be a website called “warzoneorstlouis.com”. The site was a quiz with various pictures of violent war-torn neighborhoods, and the user had to guess which neighborhoods were in St. Louis and which ones were in war zones. It even calculated a score at the end, and let the user know the answers with a brief description of the neighborhood.

Let's face it. This is yet another gratuituous thread to bash cities and states by political allegiance. Is the OP getting paid by the thread?
How can two midwestern cities be so much different when it comes to crime. Lincoln didn't have a homicide until May of 2019 and St. Louis had 5 already by 11am on New Years Morning
Wow, St. Louis had 5 homicides by 11am on New Years Day already.
Lincoln, Nebraska which is similar population had 5 of all of last year.
Metro Provo-Orem, Utah had a total of 5 homicides in 2018 with a population that is more than double that of St. Louis
Wonder why St. Louis has all these problems when Lincoln, Nebraska and Provo-Orem metro don't have them.
