He gave them cash by the pallet load (yes, you can argue it was their cash, seized when they committed terrorist activities). He not only gave them cash-he paid them interest on it! And he removed sanctions that cut into their ability to fund international terrorism and fund their nuclear program.

Why did Trump abandon the Iran nuclear deal ?

A seriously bad case of Obama envy. Yes, it's quite immature of course, but that's what it is.

Combine that with a complete lack of serious in-depth reflection, an inability to formulate any kind of long term strategy, and we get the Trump phenomena ... chaos and mayhem.

You KNOW it was a bad deal? Or, some talking head or article told you it was a bad deal?

Did you read it and do you have decades of experience in international relations and the ME?

Many who know things said it was the best possible deal that they would accept. Many of the "best deals" are when neither side is happy, but regard it as the way forward.

I wish we were trading with Iran right now. They can have Iraq - since we broke it and Iraq doesn't (for very good reason) want or like us, there isn't much other choice.

Iran will be the regional power there no matter what we do or say. They have alliances with Mr. Putin. If we start bombing anything owned by Russia or China we are going to have to pay for it ($$).

Period.

If we had to reach for a 2nd reason it's because someone who wants war (Bolton, etc.) whispered in his ear. It's a known fact that many around Trump have stated that his policy is usually determined on the last person to talk to him.

Thinking that he actually knows about foreign policy is a big mistake. He has neither the background, education or capability of knowing about the Great Game. All he can do it say Yes or No to what someone else tells him.
Hate filled biased answer. Looking for a real answer.

There was no deal with the United States. The US Constitution says ANY treaty must be ratified by the Senate.

Big fail.

Lets be real also. Iran has one of the largest natural gas reserves in the world. Nuclear power isnt near as cost efficient for them. It's just like North korea and how their nuclear power turnes into nuclear weapons.

That was Iran's own money in return Iran would cooperate...

Rather than prodding a bull(war), we just kept it at bay. Trump decided that he wants to dance as a clown in the ring while slapping the bull...
