Like the Ford Transit. Stop attacking fossil fuels and trying to force Americans to purchase these small, uncomfortable and unsafe “Go Karts”! Mind your own business on what Americans want to buy. Stop being control freaks!

Interesting to see that van sales are up, with overall vehicle sales down in 2019.

Those are not all that big, and the 4 cylinder Transit gets 24/29 mpg. While sales are up, they are still a small percentage of vehicle sales. What people want is our V8 pickup trucks and SUVs like the Tahoe and Expedition. Even as the leader, Ford sold only 153,868 Transit vans, which get much better gas mileage than the F150, of which they sold 896,526. My F150 has the 385 HP 5.0 Coyote, and gets 15/21 MPG.

I'll never give up my gas guzzling big block V8 pick up truck. I can drive it too. Unlike most of the morons out there driving large trucks and suv's. I can park it straight and evenly between the lines, I can even park it parallel to the curb and not be sticking out cockeyed into traffic.
I can make turns without jumping the curb as well. I can back up without hitting anything, or anyone. I can also park head in without hitting something or not being far enough into the stall. And better yet, I can stay CENTERED in my lane while driving. And I have yet to murder a sideview mirror while driving down the road.
Can I have my medal now?

This is due to more companies needing vans for commercial and business purposes as the population grows. For example, more housing construction and/or renovation and contractors need more vans.

Wouldn't make that into a connection that Americans want gas guzzling vehicles. We are not bringing back the living room style conversion vans of the 1960's and 1970's.

Speak for yourself. Give me a hot hatchback with a 6 speed manual.

But even "compact" cars today are huge in comparison to the 80s/90s. As are trucks becoming behemoths compared to trucks of that era.

My 2015 Prius V hybrid gets great mileage, handles easily, can carry up to four passengers, is comfortable for long trips, has great headroom, and can haul just about anything I need to haul, as the back seat flips down with the touch of a hand. It's midsized; neither tiny nor huge. I've had absolutely no mechanical trouble with it since purchasing it new four and a half years ago. It has around 38,000 miles on it now, mostly from long trips to visit out-of-state family or friends. It has been the most reliable, worry-free car I've ever owned.

And it's is not a "puny little car". OP, do your homework. Toyota does make some smaller model Priuses, but the Prius V is on the large side.

It also gets me reserved parking (for hybrids and electrical vehicles) in some places, too. Last such hotel I visited didn't have enough spaces for everyone driving such cars. Clearly there is a growing market for them.

When such user-friendly vehicles can be made, and there is clearly a market for them, why cling to old, inefficient technology that is proven harmful, when far better vehicles are readily available?

My goodness, look how macho I am in my big truck!!
So now you feel victimized by people who prefer small cars and might want to preserve the environment. We get it.

I work with a guy that is always on and on about this. He's the most opiniated arrogant person on this subject that I've ever came across. Typical of the far far left progressive types that want to control every facet of life around these types of issues. He talks about SUV's and Trucks dripping with complete disdain. LOL, just this morning he was lecturing a guy in the office about it. The guy was sorta laughing and thinking he was joking around but at some point I'd be like dude, back off. I'm not kidding, I'm surprised the guy didn't tell him to bug off that's how much he was nagging at him about it.

Same goes with the crowd that wants to ban single family homes, pack everyone in city centers in high rise building. Again, he says the same thing, makes fun of the people that want backyards for the kids and the dog. Has a disdain for those kinds of people. I mean it's a free country, at least it used to be. I get the desire to sorta think about some of these things and I think some people will begin to voluntarily do these types of things. If this clown had his way he's force people through legislation to drive little tiny cars, live in high rises, eat laboratory meat substitutes etc etc etc.

Sometimes I feel like telling him to just shut the hell up already and get out of people's business.
