Wow, so people cheer that the European conglomerate is beating the pants off the USA Manufacturer?
That's weird. Really. I guess Americans sell out cheap, as many are already working for Chinese, Japanese, Saudi and other foreign owned firms. Better than sitting at home for the individual, but not exactly my dream for the US to become "Europe and Chinas China".
And, make no mistake, that is what is happening. These companies are setting up shop because they can pay less, give fewer benefits and be subject to fewer rules than elsewhere. Also, Airbus needs to "lock in" their buying of the US Congress and Politicians....if they didn't expand here we'd sanction them for anti-competitive practices.
Anyone who reads the business news knows this has been the score for a long time.

Trade deficit? Won't effect anything.
People don't care about trade deficit. They care about jobs, pay raises, 401k progress, and keeping Hillary out of The White House.
Things are going well in America. Almost no one cares where airliners buy their airplanes.

But not as easy to suggest in Washington State.
The Boeing "Universe" of direct employees, parts suppliers and others probably totals over 1/2 million relatively high paid jobs. Those jobs support many other jobs and family members.
I'd say it matters very much...to the economy of the USA as to whether we make world-class commercial airliners.
Just like everything else that USED to be made here, you don't know what you got til it's gone. It's one thing to have a chip foundry overseas or TV factories, quite another for the most advanced technology on the planet (airliners are, IMHO, perhaps the culmination of all our technologies).
Now, "whether Americans care" - that's not a relevant statement since the past number of decades has proven that what Americans want (or allow to happen) is contrary to our best interests.
Truck and equipment manufacturers enjoyed a massive ramp up in sales thanks to Trumps tax incentives, I saw an article on crooked MSM where they were of course dumping on Trump for this slowdown in Truck manufacturing, when sales and jobs at the same company were up 90% since his election when you read the 'fine print". With the uncertainty of the election year and the big question if we'll continue onward and upward or go back to "I'm with stupid" democrats on lopsided trade agreements and high taxes, companies are understandably tightening their purse strings seeing how things play out. Collectively, world trade with China has dropped substantially and has them in a hurt locker, instead of poised to financially take over the world.

If we had been getting the big economic boom Trump and the Trumpies were telling us we'd get, there would be plenty of work for those trucks and their truckers, and there would be no need for a slowdown. What you're basically telling us is that people bought a whole bunch of new heavy-duty trucks after Trump was elected, in anticipation of a boom that never arrived. So now they're stuck with a bunch of trucks they recently bought that are going unused, and as a result new orders and sales for trucks are starting to crash.
And please don't blame the uncertainty of the upcoming election, since nearly every Trumpie in this forum and elsewhere keep telling us his re-election is in the bag. You're basically using that as an excuse to explain away a crash in the truck market because that's the only excuse you can come up with that doesn't sound like people got too optimistic after Trump was elected.

Airbus has a 600 million dollar factory in Mobile. Politics played a huge role in Airbus putting this enormous plant in America, the massive American military budget.
