Having your own government shoot down a civilian aircraft in their country and then trying to cover it up incomparable. It would be more like the US military shooting down TWA flight 800. There have always been divisions in Iran we have elevated the hard liners the last few years, this was a significant change.

Interestingly, it sounds like Iranians do not trust their own government, but also do not trust the U.S., despise the sanctions, and heap a lot of the blame on Trump. In fact, it appears that Iranians can see right through to the reality of Trump's action to the truth. They know Trump is not honest because his actions are different than his words (duh)--perhaps more clearly than some Americans see the truth.
They now are just as worried about a war as Americans are. They are critical of their own regime, but also are critical of Trump. The fake Trump is tweeting about how he 'loves' the Iranian people. But the real Trump threatened to blow up their cultural sites--that told them he does not care. Iranians do not sound as naive as many Americans.
"...And while Iranian society is a cacophony of juxtaposing ideas, one thing is clear: In an environment where their most important need is to make ends meet, even pro-America Iranians are disillusioned with the United States as a direct result of the current president’s behavior..."
“A country that needs so much help itself shouldn’t be spending its resources building military bases in the region—Iran’s money should be spent on the Iranian people. But separately, I think what Mr. Trump did to the general was also terrorism, and it got worse when he threatened to destroy our cultural sites. Why? What’s his endgame?”
“Before all this, it was hardliners who needed to be convinced for any negotiations, but now the majority of regular people are disillusioned about negotiations because they don’t see any point negotiating with Trump,” he said. I just hope he doesn’t win again. No one can trust his behavior.”
"..What Trump did with the sanctions, the killing of Soleimani—regardless of your view of the man himself—and his latest threats on our cultural sites, have all led to a major mistrust of the U.S. government.”
No. That’s the best way to end any chance of regime change. American fingerprints on any anti regime movement is enough to draw accusations of being an American Puppet. And no movement that has American backing can gain traction in Iran.
You guys have gotta start looking past the end of your noses if you’re gonna discuss geopolitics. You’re hampered by the fact that you don’t realize just how bad the reputation of the United States is.
Only in your world.
The typical Iranian is an average Joe that doesn't want to live in a terrorist state.
Democrats: These Iranian protests? Meh, "whateva!" Those protestors in Iran should try living in the US with its facist/nazi Big Bad Orange Man in the White house!!!

There's no reason to trust any of the parties. They have the history of CIA involvement in the security state under the Shah. The US rounded up people, tortured, and killed people when took over Iraq. They have a history of doing the same in many of the countries where they effect regime change.

LMAO...you’re actually of the belief that the United States has a GOOD reputation worldwide on foreign policy?

Ehhh...knock it off.
You’d have Iran bombed into smithereens in a heartbeat if you could, and you don’t care how many people the bombing would kill.
Now you’re all of a sudden in simpatico with the Iranian people? Whatever. SMH
All of those 12 demands are things which Iran should have been in compliance with all along. Why don't you tell us which specifically of those demands are unreasonable and Iran should not have to comply with?

I do believe the first 4 were already part of the Iran Deal, some of the others are addressed in sanctions. The unilateral sanctions imposed after Trump pulled out of the deal has only increased actions by Iran.

First, Iran must declare to the IAEA a full account of the prior military dimensions of its nuclear program, and permanently and verifiably abandon such work in perpetuity."
"Second, Iran must stop uranium enrichment and never pursue plutonium reprocessing. This includes closing its heavy water reactor."
"Third, Iran must also provide the IAEA with unqualified access to all sites throughout the entire country."
"Iran must end its proliferation of ballistic missiles and halt further launching or development
