After a U.S. drone was shot down in June 2019, Trump was urged to take out Soleimani.

On Dec 27 2019, "a U.S. contractor was killed and four U.S. service members were wounded".
A week later, on Jan 3 2020, Soleimani was killed in the drone strike. Trump had kept his word. Obama probably wouldn't have done anything to his pal, other than just drawn another red line in the sand, for optics.

Weakening NATO, weakening US credibility in the world, surrendering Syria to Russia, allowing Russians to take over Libya, destabilizing ME. They own him, so they'll get him to do just about anything.
1. NATO is stronger, and better funded than ever.
