Yes, but there was never any effort by the Republicans in the senate to dismiss the articles, so that clearly wasn't Nancy's goal.

Her goal was to keep it in the House permanently but the Senate forced her hand

Pelosi is playing this perfectly. She knows the GOP will never do anything against Trump, but as time goes on even the Republicans are starting to soften to the possibilities of listening to the charges against Trump.

Patience Grasshopper, patience.

You already said that you will vote for the Democrat no matter who they sit.

There's no logic to that. Just blind partisanship. So we get where this is really coming from.

Thank you for admitting that this is nothing more than Democrats vs Republicans. Nothing more.

Coming from the person who would defend Trump no matter what he did. You are just as guilty of blind partisanship my friend.

I don't know why people are saying that Pelosi failed. Sounds to me that she got what she wanted. Moscow Mitch and Linsey brownnose Graham wanted to outright dismiss the charges. Now they don't have enough votes to do that thanks to Pelosi holding out. Enough Republican Senators now want witnesses. Good job Pelosi.

You do know that acquitting President Trump of the scam charges is a much better outcome than if the charges were straight up dismissed, right? Acquitting is basically saying "it went through the justice system and they found the president did absolutely nothing wrong, so he's now completely exonerated from any wrong doing".

Quote:

An acquittal is a final judgment in a criminal trial that the case against the defendant has not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt (often shortened to “not guilty”).
A dismissal is a ruling that the case cannot or will not proceed in its current state, and might be permitted to be refiled (“dismissed without prejudice”) or not (“dismissed with prejudice”). Dismissals may be based on the merits of the case, the evidence available, or simple procedural considerations.
Pelosi and Co would rather have it dismissed then to have it end in acquittal.

That is verifiable false.

Mitch McConnell has stated from the very beginning that he wanted the Clinton impeachment process, not a dismissal.

No, this isn't the judicial branch. Acquittal of impeachment means he's free of those charges. Just like Bill Clinton is free of the charge of lying under oath. Does anybody believe Clinton wasn't guilty? Not really. It just means his crime wasn't considered sufficiently grave for the Senate to kick him out of office.
