It's not like we see hundreds of armed militias forming. Is hatred of trump voters rooted in hatred of police, military, blue collar voters, guns? To use the popular leftistterm, testosterone poisoned voters.

This is a weird question.

I've lived in both very small towns and fairly large metro areas - I like both (not a fan of suburbs). I get along fine in either setting. I don't fear - let alone hate - people because they have different opinions than I do. Even in places where I'm in the minority politically.

In Viriginia right now we are seeing the gun rights people organizing militias and sanctuaries against urbanites, their own govt and the media who are all conspiring to wrest rights away.
Its good to see the pushback.
Now If they'd only be more consistent and view their gun rights as property rights and be as pro-active in defense of the same for all.
And stop with the cop/military worship. They are all just govt employees who will turn against them if so directed.

Hmm. Never heard that term. I don’t hate Trump voters. My neighbor is one. Nice guy...I gave him a bunch of beer the other day. His wife does not understand why he out of the blue started following Trump...but I digress. I am from the city but do live rural now. I was raised in the south in very racist family. Married a yankee...all Democrats and long line of blue collar workers. No police or military haters...sorry to disappoint you. Husband served 26 years. I don’t use generalizations like 95% of this board does..perhaps this is the problem. There are extremes on both sides. Idiots on both sides. Really bad ideas on both sides. But I do think Trump is dangerous for a variety of reasons. I think we are seeing the children’s book “The Emperor’s New Clothes” played out in front of us.

But OP i do recall where a group ( not sure I would call them a militia) headed to a point in Texas when there was some kind of military exercises going and because they thought Obama was doing some big take down. It really was quite comical because they were all stirred up about it. I wish I could recall more details because it fits the bill you are noting.

That is me to a tee. Love energy of city and rural life...politics of either doesn’t matter..I can adapt because I don’t walk around angry.

Agreed. But don't consider the view of cops or military to be worship. That implies something other than deserved respect.
And when the time comes, they will not comply with any such direction for more than a few hours. They live among us, have families, and known addresses. They think about this all the time.
This is what is giving the Governor pause.

I fear Russia and Putin more than anything. He is successfully dividing America in half. I’m old enough to remember the Cuban missle crisis. I know who America’s enemies are.

Guranteed your own govt is more an immediate threat than Russian bloggers, terrorists or climate change

For some of them, they ask me right off the bat if I go to church, and I say no I'm an Atheist (can't lie). Most of them became cold to me including some telling me I'm not welcome in their town or at certain places. Despise I agree with a lot of things with them they still don't want me around because they can't accept someone who isn't a Christian.

A few times I go to a local eatery in a small town and there's usually a table with people talking about politics. I get invited in these tables since I'm from out of town. Of course the majority of the time they are mostly Conservatives liking what Trump is doing and same for the GOP. When I point out the Socialist things Trump is doing (giving billions of aid to the Farmers due to this stupid trade war), and also saying that Social Security and Medicare are also Socialist policies that are in violation of the US Constitution in my humble opinion, the people in the table will either ask me to leave or just curse me out.

I guess I can't win.
or tell the truth....

When there is minority rule, the majority is not going to be fond of the minority attempting to control them with their own self-serving rules and laws.

The majority of the country live in urban and suburban areas, so there is bound to be resentment at such a tiny minority of the country having a disproportionate amount of influence. Also, those in the suburban and urban areas are now paying billions of dollars going to rural farmers, due to the very bad policies made by the guy those rural dwellers voted for.

"...Likewise, recent U.S. population growth also has been uneven. Urban counties have grown at roughly the overall national rate of 13% since 2000. Suburban and small metropolitan areas have grown more briskly. Rural counties have lagged, and half of them have fewer residents now than they did in 2000..."
