We also lost nothing. The legitimizing angle claimed by the Left is overblown and baseless. No one is now a friend of KJU that weren’t before. Its neighbors were always fearful and respectful of NK before because he had nuclear weapons and that still hasn’t changed.

I would agree that we didn’t lose anything substantial, other than maybe some additional respect from our allies which is already down substantially due to Trump’s other actions and statements.
It is hard to tell what may or may not be gained in the future. But it was no worse than before and worth a try. It didn't hurt us.
Agreed however I’d argue that we are actually better off now because there is at least a dialogue whereas before Trump, there was animosity between us and NK.
As of now we got nothing but we also lost nothing in the attempt. At least we gave the regime nothing but some good press, no money or tech was given away like in the past.

What we got was the ability to say to those who complain about America's supposed war-mongering that we tried another path; we tried the path of diplomacy. At this point, it doesn't appear to have worked, though I'd say the jury is still out. But if Trump is forced to employ a military response, he can shut up the complainers by reminding them that he did indeed try diplomacy, and it didn't work.
