Ever heard the saying "It takes two to tango"? Think about it.

Both parties involved share the blame.

What argument regarding American citizens? I made it very clear that honest contractors can't compete with sleazy ones who underbid them.

We need to make it easier for hard working immigrants to get in this country, we need their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit.
Honestly considering moving my construction stuff to a place with more immigrants. Currently in one of the whitest states. Have had enough of the **** poor labor pool.

Not all Americans are afraid to "dig a ditch or pull strawberries". Not all millennials were taught that they were too good to do any honest work. We taught our daughter that there was no shame in doing any honest work. While in college, she worked as a hotel maid and also a certified nursing assistant in a nursing home. Don't paint all kids with the same brush.

Once illegals flood an area of the country, they depress wages. If you travel to the Heartland, you will see Americans doing those jobs that you and your ilk claim Americans won't do. Even in immigrant-heavy cities, I've come across Americans cleaning hotel rooms. If you peek into the BOH at a restaurant, you will see Americans working back there.

So...you plan to hire illegal aliens and underpay them. Or, are you planning to hire legal immigrants? Stop trying to blur the lines between illegal alien and legal immigrant.

Do you even care how illegal aliens do shoddy work? Does it even matter to you?

Except, ah, you kind of have that now. Americans continue to get richer and have a high quality of life seemingly yearly. Enjoying some of the best infrastructure in the world, and having far more options than easily 80% of the world. Even the poorest Americans are still amongst the 70% richest in the world. Yet when you come to online forums, it’s doom and gloom. America is dying, we’re poor, we’re going broke. My favorite is “the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer”. Except we don’t have any poor in America, and the rich are just sustaining wealth.

See the reality is there are jobs being created daily. All over the country. So many new and innovative people are leaving their corporate jobs and starting businesses. Many times to great success. It has even forced the big corporate jobs to start stepping up its game. And we are seeing a plethora of companies innovating and trying new things. And we’re seeing so much wealth being generated. There is only one problem. No workers. We can’t find people to actually work these jobs. Job requirements remain un-filled for month on end. Sometimes it can take 5 to 8 months to fill a position.

Yet there are no job. The reality is this, there are jobs. But Americans don’t want to take them, because they are lazy. So companies hands have been forced. They’ve had to augment their staff with Visa sponsorships, because they literally can’t even have a team without them. And this is no benefit to the company. Visa sponsorships is messy business, requiring a ton of paperwork for the worker, and the volatility that they can just be randomly sent back to their home country. Trust me, large corporations would love to hire Americans. But the reality is, Americans don’t even apply for these jobs most of the time.

So those of us in these jobs are sitting here working 14 hours days to hit deadlines. Because we are all working to try to hit company goals and targets. As the market is moving fast. So where are all of the Americans?

Well they’re begging the government to keep protect their factory jobs. Jobs that have no business even existing anymore. They don’t want to leave their home town, so they want the government to protect the underperforming and nearly dead factory or coal mine in the town. So they don’t have to learn anything new, or travel, or get out of their comfort zone. It’s all about being comfortable. And you can’t be rich by being comfortable.

So next time you want to blame someone, look in the mirror. Immigration is the reason these companies can do anything at all.

^^^^ This is 100% accurate. We Americans are too good to take menial labor jobs, regardless of what they pay. Immigrants are happy to accept any job, will work hard, even in the boiling sun all day, and never complain.

I have worked side by side with Mexican laborers, and they work circles around us, and take the hardest jobs on the planet. Try to get some American to show up and take those same jobs, and you will find out quickly how lazy we truly are.

Anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves.

Yes.This thread sure as hell doesn't apply to tech , especially IT. So much easier to bring in cheaper workers from India. A booming economy yet AT&T laying off workers. You really see it in IT. Good example

I have to laugh at the lazy Americans talk. There is a summer camp Vermont run by Quakers where parents spend thousands to send their kids to learn how to farm. They come up in the winter, cut ice from the lake, get it up a really big hill for storage. That's how they refrigerate all summer. That ice from February. Then they come up for spring planting. They work the crops and tend to the animals all summer til harvest time.

How did people eat before corporate farms and cheap Mexican labor? My granny grew enough food to feed 12 people 3 meals a day. Mostly by herself.

This is about exploiting people. Has nothing to do with Americans being lazy.

Learn to live within your means.
And that means - if there is not enough of your own compatriots able to fill these jobs, then your country is not ready for them ( why - that's up to specialists to figure out what the hangups exactly are - be that the system of education that needs to be restructured or what's not.)
Meanwhile - get out of your comfort zone, travel, go start your company elsewhere, any place that's full of specialists you desire, be that India or Mexico.
Why dontcha?

Anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves.
Starting i the 1980s, I was paying $15 an hour. Most factories were paying $8. I had trouble getting help. The young guys did not want to get dirty. I finally went to working 12-16 hours a day and only taking jobs that I could do alone. We have no illegals here except restaurant help. The local construction companies run constant ads looking for help without any results. A good flooring installer can make $50,000 a year. But it seems that no one is interested in learning the trade. A factory 20 miles from here starts at $17 an hour and shut down one shift for lack of help.

When was the last time you saw some American fighting to get a landscaping or similar job where you have to work for 10-12 hours in the Summer sun every day ?

Hell, we can't even get people to show up for cushy jobs in the air conditioning where I work !
