It seems to me that that more and more people say they care very much about the environment, climate change, etc., but I am wondering what sacrifices that you personally would be willing to make, if any?
As a senior, I admit that I am fairly set in my ways, and I would especially hate to give up wood burning and living in my own single family home. However, we do recycle and cook most of our own food from scratch, so our garbage is much less than that of most people. We also have only one car, and do all our errands and shopping for one day a week to save the most amount of gas, and I also walk to my part-time job, 0.6 miles away. My husband has also taken the bus and then light rail to his job in the past, and would be willing to do so again, but metro Denver RTD has changed the schedules and availability so that it would take him almost 90 minutes (vs. about 35-40 minutes by car) to get to his job! However, the biggest contribution we have made was to choose not to have our own biological children.
So, just out of curiosity -- what do you currently do, and what would you be willing to do, to help preserve the planet Earth?
The thing is there are lots of little things that taken together and deployed on a massive scale would go a long ways to helping the planet and wouldn't be much of a burden on any single individual. Use of energy efficient lighting, appliances, cars, HVAC systems. Recycling, less packaging waste, less use of plastics. It's a really large list and one that your average Trump* supporter abhors because it goes against their ethos of their idea of American exceptionalism a.k.a. Nobody's telling me what I can and can't do, the greater good be damned.
Personally I simply try to not be wasteful and tread lightly.

I will give up all the tv time that seems to be wasted watching political commercials from Special Interest Groups, I know its a sacrifice but I am willing to do it for "The Cause".....
I've sacrificed enough...I take public transit to work and back and all my lamps have LED bulbs in them....I mean what CAN you sacrifice that would make any difference at all?

The thing that everybody could do that would make the very biggest difference of all, world wide, would be to sacrifice plastic.

A lot of the climate stuff is total, agenda driven garbage.
But I would be prepared to pay higher prices for things Made In America and tell China to go screw themselves. Since they are the highest emitter (by far) of all that bad-for-the-environment-stuff. And since their human rights history is abhorrent.
You want to help the planet, place pressure (the entire world place pressure) on China. Leave my freakin' straws alone.
