The Donald has nothing to do with the poverty rate dropping before he became POTUS. And while has been POTUS the following has yet to change:

The workforce participation rate (same as 1919 Spanish Flue pandemic) is (same levels as El Salvador and the Dominican Republic) at 63%.
The u.s. life expectancy rate (unusual for a developed country) has declined over the last 3.
Birth rates in u.s. decline.
The u.s. ranks number one with the highest number of incarcerated adults, per capita.
Suicide rates rise ...

And:
CDC - Drug Overdose Deaths

"The age-adjusted rate of overdose deaths increased significantly by 9.6% from 2016 (19.8 per 100,000) to 2017 (21.7 per 100,000). Opioids—mainly synthetic opioids (other than methadone)—are currently the main driver of drug overdose deaths. Opioids were involved in 47,600 overdose deaths in 2017 (67.8% of all drug overdose deaths)."

Typical trumpian thread ...

How disgusting it is to see so many American citizens supporting unconstitutional laws and even boasting how they love to see fellow citizens imprisoned on these crimes! (especially laws that criminals benefit from!).

It reminds me of decades past, when people would support laws against Black people, against homosexuals, or even those involved in interracial relationships! Im sure plenty of people called police when they saw a black person drinking from a 'whites only' water fountain, or sitting in a 'whites only' restaurant section...its the same exact thing they are doing today with drug laws.

I refuse to support laws that favor and benefit criminals.

prescription drug legislation could be rolled back to pre-Nixon war on drugs scheduling and the crime infested illegal usage would drop enormously...back when mom and pop could legally purchase their pep pils and aches and pains pills..its really nobody's business what someone else does to themselves

very very simple harm reduction strategy here

This is America, getting high on Trump and his policies... Not so much drugs. Turns out, with good, effective leadership, fewer people feel the need to destroy themselves with drugs

I think most people know, if Hitlery got elected, the rate of suicide and overdose deaths would continue to skyrocket, and lefties would continue to cheer as Americans are replaced by illegals. America dodged a bullet!
Respecting America has side effects. America is back baby!
WINNING!

The notion that a bunch of druggies are going to stop doing drugs just because some particular person is in the White House is utterly laughable.

All those former pill poppers are now buying heroin from street dealers, do you see what happened? The drug cartels forced the DEA to create these laws and they are now raking in the money in dump truck loads! They basically stole all the pharma companies customers away using US laws, it was brilliant imo.

It COULD be, but it WON'T be for precisely the reason rsstevens elucidated: the Fed would lose over a TRILLION dollars if they did--through savings in Social Security and Medicare when someone kills themself because of the pain and on the illegal drug end when pillheads turn to street drugs. So you realize that each time a senior, 62 YO kills themself SS/Medicare saves roughly 200 thousand dollars in average lifetime payouts, and that's if the senior never gets hospitalized. If the senior is sickly and has lots of medical issues that cost just went up 10 x's. The government has ALL the incentive in the world to keep its citizens away from opioid painkillers and all the incentive in the world to force them to continue killing themselves. It's brillaint. Never fall under the illusion your government cares about keeping you healthy. In truth, they wish you'd die tomorrow if you're past your work years and they're working overtime to accomplish that. Pretty insidious.

They are not stupid enough to let that happen. Why they are still chugging along in their 80s.

i have been beginning to think that political action works best when fear is the motivator..what you are saying is the fear generated by war on drug hysteria is cost effective i have for a long time considered the world an amoral place run for money and profit with religion squeezed in to allow the people some emotional outlet for their compassion

It's very sad for me to be saying this, but given that we know Trump has forced his people to withhold information and sometimes to actually lie to the public, I'd be much more inclined to believe this if it was confirmed by another expert and in another news source.

And it's always hard for me to take seriously any post using juvenile slurs like "Hitlery."
