That's exactly it.

Trump planned to run out the clock and then get re-elected with the backing of Putin and whoever else he could rustle up to help out.

McConnell and the Republicans were fine with that. The bill to oppose foreign involvement in our elections languishes in the Senate.

Democrats have soldiered on while Trump and the Republicans whine about snitches, bellyache about the process, block testimony and documents while complaining that there should be more testimony and documents. , criticize and insult Democrats, lie about how impeachment in unconstitutional, and peddle Putin's propaganda in an attempt to divert the attention of the more dimwitted amount us.

lmao ...thus has nothing to do with the legal field, it's a political exercise.. Didn't you figure that out when the House never pursued going to the court to force testimony? They never considered it a legal exercise, why do you continue to?

they told us they had overwhelming evidence...where is it?

of course they told us that during the Russian hoax.... the only thing the House Democrats have proven is how grossly incompetent they are.

Try again - the SCOTUS completed review and ruled in 2 months on Nixon's executive privilege and 4 months on Clinton's. If they started this process when they first talked about it in Nov, they may have already had their ruling. They were probably worried about a ruling against them.

They never issued a proper subpoena for witnesses or information - probably didn't know that did you. The problem is they would have had to allow Republican witnesses also.

But to your point, if there is evidence then why do they need more testimony?

Five years to go through the Court system ? That means if the Senate subpoenas all the people the Dems want subpoenaed, Trump's 2nd term will be over before the court rulings.

If that is the case we have a MISTRIAL happening or we have to dismiss those jurors who have gone on television.
it is just another SCAM
It is a Senate trial. To be fair, I don't think a Senate trial follows trial law rules. I don't think a mistrial call can happen unless the rules aren't followed.

Trump would delay it just like the tax returns. That has taken four years.

Moscow Mitch don't care. He just wants the Republicans to control it. As I've said before Pence is involved because why else would Trump not step down and Pence pardons him? At least that would remove Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House...

They already did. Or are you saying the ruling of U.S. V. Nixon is wrong?

This will happen to the Republicans, especially if they do not have the witnesses called and dismiss in lockstep.

Yep. Republicans aren't about rule of law until it is a Democrat in the White House. They couldn't give two French Connetion United Kingdoms about it with Trump, a Republican in office. The Republicans are phonies. Not that Democrats are much better, but they haven't proven to be total utter hypocrites like Republicans have.

DC Wiretapping Law
The District of Columbia's wiretapping law is a "one-party consent" law. DC makes it a crime to record a phone call or conversation unless one party to the conversation consents. See D.C. Code § 23-542.
