This entire thing is unreal. First the House BLOCKS all Republican witnesses in the House, and now they still want to call the shots in the Senate, and block witnesses there?

The House has really put themselves in a corner. They not only want to continue to call witnesses for the Democrats that they failed to in the House, when they had control, but they want continue to block Republican witnesses now that it's in the Senate. Now they about to have the full extent of Biden's corruption (during an impeachment seeking for signs of Trump's corruption) be revealed for all the voters to see.
- Not a fact witness in the bunch. Spare us!

- Control? Yeah lets wait years for the courts to rule on our useless subpoenas

- Republicans has 2 years of a majority, 2017 and 18, to investigate Joe Biden. Again. Spare us!

I don't think he has much, or it would have came out already.

They are just putting pressure on the Senators to allow witness so that they can further have the opportunity the damage Trump and hope something will arise to turn the tide and remove him from office ASAP.

Dems are coming after Trump and the Senators just as a regular pattern of behavior. It will continue regardless of what happens with the impeachment trial. They might as well nuke the trial now and deal with the book if necessary when it comes out. It's not like Dems need Bolton's book to try and damage GOP Senators... that's just what they do.

Here is the link to Nunes' letter, hosted on the official house.gov website. You can take it from there.

If the House decides to call more witnesses, they will go through the courts, whatever it takes, which means the testimony could happen just prior to November.

Roll the dice, Mitch. If you're wrong, the credibility of the GOP is finished in the United States.
They can call Bolton in the House, but Executive Privilege will still apply.

I can offer a theory, but you won't like it because it won't fit your preconceived notion that Schiff has nefarious motives.

My suspicion is that Michael Atkinson's transcript was not declassified because his testimony likely focused heavily, if not exclusively, on the circumstances surrounding the whistleblower complaint, and Democrats don't want to reveal the whistleblower's identity.

As for the substance, I doubt the testimony is exculpatory to Trump. Why? Because John Ratcliffe (R-TX) has been making the rounds on Fox News stating that that the transcript contains evidence that Schiff's office was in contact with the whistleblower.

Assuming for the sake of argument that Ratcliffe is being truthful, then that would arguably provide grounds for an ethics probe into Schiff's role, but it would not in any way detract from the evidence of Trump's conduct that has been independently verified by other sources, including the July 25 call summary itself.

In other words, you can investigate the investigators, but it wouldn't absolve Trump of all wrongdoing. There's no "exclusionary rule" in U.S. politics, and two wrongs don't cancel each other out.

Very compelling argument. Thanks for sharing!

Actually, by claiming that the conversation "never happened" Trump has waived privilege over that particular topic. Privilege cannot be asserted over a discussion you deny existed.

But shhhhhh…...
Are really still peddling this tripe? They had all the time in the world to investigate Biden. And again Biden has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with this impeachment no matter how many times you and yours repeat it.

Lol... of course not. Republicans have committed themselves to Trump, rebranded themselves as Trumpettes. Anyone, including Jesus and their mothers, who tries to take Trump down is instantly thrown into thresher.

Stop, just stop trying to rewrite history.

The Republican were not able to subpoena witnesses, period, full stop.

The democrats were the only ones that could call witnesses, and the Republicans could only request witnesses.

The democrats denied almost all of the witnesses the Republicans requested, except the witnesses that already testified.
