You guys must have missed the memo. Supplementing his prior claim that it would be unconstitutional for the State police to stop him if he went on an active shooting spree in the middle of Manhattan, Trump is arguing that he can do literally anything to bolster his re-election chances as long as he believes that his re-election is good for the country, including inducing a foreign government to imprison or execute his political rivals (or American citizens who support them) on fake criminal charges.

Given that argument, I'm sure we can agree that merely strong-arming a government to announce an unfounded investigation into Joe Biden is fairly small potatoes.

Small government "don't tread on me" Conservatives must be celebrating.

Think about this.
Trump and his lawyers are now for BIGGER Govt as long as 1 person thinks it's ok.
I take it, you were not watching and listening carefully Tuesday??? Trump's legal team laid out what Schiff failed to tell the public about his secret testimony, behind closed doors in the basement.

The Superbowl analogy would be more apt if the AFC team wouldn't let the NFC team hold the football after the AFC punted and justified it by arguing they didn't like the way the NFC championship game was officiated. Also, having the final score announced on the jumbotron with the 4th quarter clock at 0:00 before kickoff doesn't seem like much of a game, even if it allowed one group of fans to call it a "win" on Monday morning.

Some people would rather a tribalistic "win" rather than a fair, reasonable, or justifiable outcome. But hey, at least you can watch the commercials.

Republican Senators may unite against witnesses and evidence, by deeming that anything that a sitting president does to stay in power, as long as he believes it is in the best interest of the country for him to stay in power, is not an impeachable offense. So that means Watergate wasn't an impeachable offense. Calling out the National Guard to prevent access to polls in strongly Democratic areas wouldn't be an impeachable offense. Suspending the constitution, calling out the military to suppress peaceful civil protests, declaring oneself Dictator for Life, are all not impeachable offenses, as long as the sitting president believes that it is in the best interest of the country for him to stay in power.

That seems to be thinking of Trump and his defenders.

Anyone who paid to hear that tripe got ripped off!

"The President can't be impeached if what he did was, in his opinion, in the public interest".

Horse-hockey! That equates with Richard Nixon: "When the President does it, that means it's not illegal"

Schiff couldn't tell the public about trump's secret scheming done behind closed doors in the basement of the WhiteHouse because trump refuses to be transparent to American citizens!

We heard from 18 witnesses in the house. Their testimony was used by both sides in the trial. Why do we need to hear from them again?

And some seem to pretend this is about something OTHER than the 2020 election.

We all knew the house was going to impeach him and the senate was going to acquit him.

We knew this from the very beginning, and I can find many old posts to prove it. This is all because the democrats think they cant win the election, and this is their Hail Mary. They think if they can keep this in the headlines until the election, then maybe it will sway voters. So, why would any sane republican go along with the democrat’s scheme?
