Imagine a cop pulls someone over and demands a hefty cash bribe to let the motorist go. As this is occurring, by happenstance, a non-corrupt officer sees the traffic stop and arrives at the scene. Seeing the arrival of another officer, the corrupt cop releases the motorist without the payment of the bribe. Motorist later reports the incident and, when confronted, the corrupt cop argues that the bribe was never paid, thus here was no personal benefit, quid pro quo, or abuse of power.
Except that, comparing the impeachment to your analogy, the motorist would be the President of Ukraine, who not only did not report the "incident", but denied it ever happened.
Rand Paul will have blood on his hands if anything happens to the whistle blower! After Chief Justice Roberts refused to read Rand's childish question, Rand stormed out and read it to the cameras!
"Blood on his hands" -- LOL. Good for him. Except he got it wrong. The whistleblower's name is Atkinson. The IC IG is the one who publicized this.
Trump is a carnival barker and 50 years from now people will look back on Trumpism like they do now McCarthyism and wonder how the hell people fell for this nonsense.
America will look back on this impeachment as one of the biggest scams in modern day American political history.
You really need to go back and look into why that prosecutor was removed at the request of almost everyone but putin!!!! Plus I've already debunked this argument. He was removed for NOT investigating corruption, INCLUDING Burisma. NOT because he was GOING TO investigate Burisma. More russian/trump propaganda!
C.f. obstruction of congressional or administrative proceedings (18 U.S.C. 1505).
Who do you think writes the legal code?
"Obstruction of Congress" is most assuredly NOT a crime. Some types of obstruction of Congressional proceedings do qualify as crimes under various statutes, but there is no crime called "obstruction of congress".
You have to match the conduct to a statute, which of course the House could not and did not do, so the "obstruction of Congress" Trump was impeached for is NOT a crime.
