The defendant is never required to PROVE THEIR INNOCENCE. They are presumed innocent. Its up to the prosecution (ie the House) to gather evidence, witnesses, and prove his guilt. They failed to do so.
In addition, when there is no actual crime alleged, and all 17 of their witnesses are hearsay witnesses, except for Sondland who was told directly by Pres Trump "I want nothing", and yet the house says their case is solid, then there is no reason to call more witnesses.
