both parties have moved to the left over the last 100 years
bush the senior was quite liberal
the democrats (ie the fascist/fascio-socialist liberals) have moved so far to the left they might as well call themselves communists and be done with democracy
No doubt, I can't for the life of me see how someone could say that they right has gone more right than the big shift of the dems toward the left. To me it seems absurd to think that.
Seriously -- on what issues do the Democrats lean more right or center-right than Republicans?
Or, to ask a similar question, what issues do they lean center or center-right on? Or are you just comparing Democrats (or moderate Democrats) to the so-called Progressives?
P.S. On Edit: Actually, I just Googled it, and found the following article, of which I have just read the first paragraph, and will now leave this thread to finish it!
Obamacare was adopted from a right-wing Republican policy. In fact, Obamacare was first enacted by a Republican governor in MA; and the Democrats basically just borrowed this center-right policy because it aligns with many of their views.
Barrack Obama gave a tax cut to the middle class, a very center-right policy. That compared to the supposedly right-wing Reagan, who raised taxes. Obama is actually to the right of Reagan on tax policy. Which, of course, makes this another right-leaning policy.
Obama also strong armed Kuwait into buying 40 F-18s from Boeings to prevent the Ohio plant from closing. This tactic of strong-arming another country to buy our products is another of the Democrats' right-wing policy. Instead of BS like trade war and negotiation like the whimpy Trump, Obama basically called Kuwait and said, "You will buy our planes and you cannot say no." That's more right-wing than the right-wing.
She is right when speaking about the Democrats in general. The party leans center to center-right on many issues.
There is a fraction of the Democrats who leans left or on the very left. AOC is part of that group but it is just a fraction within the Democratic Party. In fact, you are seeing this plays out in the presidential election right now - just look at the vast difference between John Delaney, Biden, Warren, and Sanders. The ideology between the groups are huge. Unlike the Republican party, who tends to be homogenous.
This is why when the Right talk of the Left as if we are like them (everyone thinks alike), we can't help but chuckle.
.
Yep. I don't get the right thinking that the far left is symbolic of the left in general, most are pretty much Republicans but aren't conservative enough and called RINOs. This is why I've called Gabbard a DINO. She is far more Republican than Democrat. She has moments bit largely she is a Republican in Democrat colors.
I don't know if we're getting played or not but there seems to be something serious going down behind the scenes between AOC and the democrats.
Last week they had one of their shills write a CNN article about why AOC should leave the party.
My guess is that they're loosely threatening each other as the D's try to rein her in and she's frustrated by their positions on things and decision to back Biden hard instead of a progressive.

The right-leaning, the centrists, and left-wing Democrats have been going at it since the beginning of time.
Anyone who just found this out is not the most informed person.

She is a self-identified leftist, and she is asking for things which can be considered left, while the party as whole is not. If they are showing their displeasure, it is because they feel she gets a lot of attention, while not representing the views of the party. The GOP see that, and try to portray her as the "face of the party", and based on the replied even on this threat, their voters have bought into it.
You'd want to be around the center, especially during election year, although they might be a lost cause given the field.

no doubt. it's incredible that anyone would try to argue otherwise.

I think in the bowels of the democrat party they know that right now that a far left progressive won't win against Trump. Maybe in a few more election cycles but not right now. I don't think that the average American is really down with the far left progressive policies. They tend to be more middle moderate than far left.
I could be wrong, I don't know, just a best guess estimate here if I were a political strategist. I think that the more outlandish things that AOC says and the more Trump can conflate her as being the base of the Dem party, the more he has a shot of winning, I think that would be a good reason to get her muzzled within the Dem Party.
