Trump completely blocked all witnesses and documentation, I just want to see if the republicans in the senate have some credibility left and will issue subpoenas. The house of course could have issued the subpoenas but it would have languished in the courts until after 2020. This could very well speed up the process, I don't see him getting away with obstruction. He has not at this point claimed executive privilege so I don't see how he can continue to block congress.
The House did issue subpoenas which have been languishing in the courts since last April. Still, trump refuses to provide the evidence that he claims would clear him straightaway. Well, where is it? What is trump hiding? What are the Republicans complicit in covering up?
I did a informal poll here on C-D asking everyone if they thought Trump would actually be removed about 1 week ago.
Only 2 posters said yes out of 100+. So, only 2%.
I'm guessing that 2% would very likely apply to those participating in this thread.
So, my question is, why 17 pages of discussion over something that almost nobody thinks is going to happen?
I'm genuinely curious to know why. I'm not disparaging anyone, I just would like to know what motivates you all, because the motivation is so strong. Every thread containing the word "impeachment" goes wild, even though almost nobody sees removal happening.
People still want the senate to do the right thing.
They might not expect it, but they still desire it. It is a normal reaction.
Truth hurts, I know, but it's reality. Get used to it.
What's to debate? You went to the store and ran into ONE person who agreed with you. Hardly worthy of debate. And you apparently read one post and decided that was all I had to offer. Talk about a fly by!
Intelligent people listen to both sides, and not the one sided "facts and truth" that has biased this whole impeachment process.
So far the Democrat's "truth" has been entirely opinion, not actual facts.
HOGWASH!!! Just because they didn't have access to the witnesses you think they needed doesn't make the other 16 witnesses they did call liars. I know..... HEARSAY. Which it WASN'T in most cases IS allowed under the rules of impeachment and criminal due process also. Ask your buddies in the Senate to do their jobs!

The lead lawyer for Trump (forget his name) brought up a very pertinent point: What is the purpose for a completely PARTISAN attempt to remove a sitting president when there is an election just 9 months away? Was this an "umbrella insurance" policy in case the Russian hoax failed?
There is NO chance that Trump will be removed and the 2016 election overturned, so it is no more than a tax-payer funded smear campaign against the duly elected president. The Dems can't win with their horrific candidates - either socialists who would bankrupt the country or a doddering old man guilty of the very corruption they are accusing Trump of - and thus they've sunk to an unbelievably new low. They are counting on the "idiocy of the American voter" (to quote the architect of Obamacare who got that travesty through) to fall for this shameful charade.

This is an inane. It's like asking if a diplomat shot his wife in your presence if they will be prosecuted. Useless.
What motivates you to propagate your "distortions"? It certainly isn't truth!
That is correct, and those opinions were based on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hand information. The firsthand, and direct evidence refutes the claims made by the democrat's witnesses.
And could be corroborated when and if documents are provided.
