It is a little late to close the barn door after the horses have gotten out. The corona virus is already in this country. The question is should flights out of the USA continue with our nation being effected?
Not sure it really matters as this is likely destined to spread through the world....it is already in two of the most populated nations on earth. I’m guessing it is too late.
I saw that the major Airlines in the UK had stopped flying to China.
The really need to do the same in the USA.
The USA can stop flying direct into China, but they can't do anything about stopovers. If someone needs/wants to get to China, they can just book a flight to (fill in the blank... Japan, Germany, Turkey, whatever), then fly to China. The whole world would need to stop flying into China to effectively stop Americans from going there.
No. The mortality rate is less than 2% and the overwhelming majority are recovering just fine. We have 8 cases in the US and there is no travel ban to China. I think we should monitor as we are doing now, encourage people to take precautions, prepare for the worst case scenario, and warn against travel to China, particularly to severely impacted regions. That seems to be doing the trick and I don't think more is needed.
Also, there's the point that a travel ban won't actually do what some think it would as a travel ban won't prevent people from coming into contact outside of China with people who have traveled to China or otherwise come into contact with people who came into contact with infected persons.
'Infectious' and 'lethal' are two different things. The common cold is infectious but it seldom kills. The coronavirus doesn't have a very high mortality rate.
What I'm wondering is why this story is being blown out of proportion. Who benefits politically and financially?
My guess would be Big Pharma and the Chinese -- no riots in Hong Kong nor large gatherings of people now
