If the “No’s” win, just end it now. It is a waste of time to go any further. If “Yes” wins, then go on to witnesses.
I don't think that is the way the "trial" works. Roberts may be low on morality but hopefully not that low.

It will likely proceed as you mention - the witnesses will be called and they will finger the POTUS. The POTUS will continue to lie outright. The POTUS will refuse to testify under oath.

Then the GOP will vote largely along Party Lines to say "having your own mini-state Department of highly paid private citizens who donate to your campaign...to go around the Congress...is NOT an offense serious enough to warrant removal".

Or, to save face, maybe they will censure him.

But I disagree that it doesn't matter. It does matter. When deniability is removed we The People can actually see the reality.

AND, remember this. If these actions are not worthy of removal - it's safe to say there are NONE that ever will be. After all, we won't even get the evidence of tax returns, large money transfers between the Trumps and the Russians and Arabs and countless other evidence which is likely more than any future POTUS could sin.

The only possible impeachment in the future will be when one party has strong control of both houses.

Why would the GOP do that, strategically? That's just not a smart move. This needs to be over with smoothly and swiftly, politically. And since there are zero crimes, it's a wasteful effort of time and energy.

If Democrats had the presidency and the shoe was on the other foot, I guarantee the Democrats would want this to be over swiftly without calling witnesses.

The witnesses will be a sh*tshow for Democrats. They've dug their own grave here, and it's gonna get deeper for them.

Are you trying to say that you were wrong...along with millions of others...when you thought there was zero way that witnesses could ever be called?

Why not just say "Hey, I didn't think this was going to happen". No harm in that. You win some and you lose some - Moscow Mitch lost this battle.

The GOP isn't thinking like you are. They are feeling the Crush of the Will of the People...or they would have shut this down by the end of the week.

People are not going to look away now. Anything they do will be amplified, so if they do ignorant things as you suggest, it will not satisfy those independents or many of the decent Republicans.

Granted, without Bolton and Parnas, etc....they would have made it go away and not lost a moment of sleep about it. But being sleaze political creatures they have now had to respond to those who have been calling their offices, etc.

They held a find up to see which way the wind was blowing and are now headed in that direction.

Once any witness is called in....wow, that's like penalty of instant jail if they don't come or if they lie.

We could make this very easy and have the Stable Genius testify along with perhaps 3 others. Three hour each. Done.

How many times have we heard for desperate libs proclaiming, "it's over"?

Let's face it- the Senate is never going to vote to remove Trump from office- never. Yet libs cling to this weird fantasy as though there is a snowball's chance in hell that will ever happen.

Must be a drag to be a lib and live in a hate filled fantasy world, in which there is no scary Donald Trump, dope is cheap and plentiful, and government checks arrive in bounty every week.

It's over, all right....for Joe Biden. That leaves Sanders, and America will not vote in a socialist. Hello, President Trump 2020!
There have been numerous investigations into Biden and nothing has been found...fake news

If the president wanted to go there again he should and would have Barr do an investigation not Ukraine.

I have no problem with calling the Bidens, hell lets call the presidents son in law and daughter and ask them how much they have profited because their father is president while we're at it.

This sounds like the dark places on the opioid abuse map.....you better believe those checks need to arrive in WV, KY, etc......

Trump isn't scary. He's an ignorant clown. He's a lot of things but scary isn't one of them.
