Trump is the Republican party. It is time for McConnell and Graham to step down.

So, you finally realized this impeachment is going nowhere and was dead on arrival?

LOL

Why is it the narrative that for Republicans to show leadership, it can only come in the form of defying/opposing/undermining a Republican president, while for Democrats to show leadership, it comes in the form of absolute solidarity with a Democrat president?

I've never understood that particular double standard.

OP ru mad because McConnell won't "stand up to Bad Orange Man" or because Romney and the RINO sisters want to call witnesses? If the former you have unrealistic expectations and if the latter you're holding the wrong people accountable.

From a non-partisan point of view, the reason that Republicans have been losing ground to Democrats for decades is very simple. They're wimps. The Democrats are way better at PR and they are constantly on the attack and the Republicans are always timidly apologizing and trying to explain why whatever they're being accused of "just ain't true." The clearest, most blatant example was the confirmation of Kavanaugh. The Democrats did what the Democrats always do. They dig up hints, allegations and things left unsaid from 30 years ago with no evidence. What does the Republican controlled Senate do with it? They take it super duper seriously. They give the Democrat minority months and months. Time. Hearings. Investigations. More investigations. They don't have the spine to just say what the Dems said under Obama. "Sit down and shut up. We won. You lost. Losing elections have consequences. Deal with it."

The fact that the Republican Party survives at all is astounding. They have ceded control of Hollywood, the news media, colleges and social media to the Democrats and the Left. And yet they persevere. One would think that the GOP is a dead man walking, but it just never seems to die.

Trump represents something new. He said it before he was in politics in "The Art of the Deal". When somebody punches you in the face, punch back ten times harder. And to be frank, the Dems don't know what to do with a "Republican" who isn't easily cowed into mumbling apologies by repeated droning shrieks of "Racist!!" and "Nazi!!" and the like. I don't personally like the man and I don't personally like the Republican Party, but it's amusing to sit back and watch.

It is not just McConnells leadership during the impeachment, it is his entire leadership. What has Graham done with judiciary hearings and spying on the Trump campaign?

3 years of Mueller, Democrat hearings, the Kavanaugh fiasco, impeachment, 3 years of Republican silence and cowardice.

The Republicans have been feckless for a long time now. During the Obama years they were nervous to say anything against him out of fear of being labelled a racist. I think the establishment was shocked when Trump won in 2016. They had resigned themselves to losing to Hillary but boy we ran a good race with Rubio, oh well better luck next time.

The problem with the Republicans is that they listen to and take their lead from the Democrats. They seem to finally be coming around to the fact that Trump is a very popular President to his base but some are still hesitant to get on board the Trump train out of fear of public backlash. The fear is real with the way the Democrats have been acting with their violent marches, protests and riots and with the way they were going to Republican houses to demonstrate or attacking them while they have dinner with their family.

It is very hard for anyone to admit they like Trump because we fear the backlash from the party of tolerance and diversity.

The problem with the Republicans is that they have the best interest of America in second place to their own best interests and keeping their cushy jobs.

Showing leadership is unrelated to following the wishes of the Democratic Party which is what this impeachment resembles more each day.
