That doesn't make sense to me. They know he was guilty, yet their going to acquit him anyway?
Can someone explain that?
Reasons to get impeached are not spelled out, so there is a disagreement whether the charges brought forward by the house are impeachable offenses, an according to the GOP the reasons have to be even more critical in an election year.
Very good post, Oldhag1. I think Trump and the Republicans would have been better served if their position was, yes, the House proved their case, what Trump did is wrong but isn't severe enough to warrant removal. That would have been a lot more respectable than the defense that they put up, which relied on a bunch of hand-waving and wacky legal theories.
The parts I listened to said that. They were saying he asked for Ukraine to investigate Bidens……….. but that in itself was not impeachable...…...how is that "hand waving and wacky"?

Well . . democrats kind of did the same thing with Clinton?
I take that to mean impeachment is fairly toothless. Neither party, no matter WHAT, is going to vote their own president out of office. Might as well just take it out of the constitution .
Well your friends on the right showed many illustrations of Obama being hung in effigy AND your friends on the right said he wouldn't live long enough to even see his inauguration, sooooooo - - - using your simple minded linear logic; some friends being the azz****s they can be is an indictment upon everyone - - - no?
Senator Lamar Alexander (R) says additional witnesses aren't needed because the House proved their case, but doesn't think Trump should be removed.
This means we have bipartisan agreement that Trump is guilty.
The president will be acquitted but certainly not exonerated.
I think that was tongue-in-cheek. he was poking fun at the Dems, wasn't he?
