The police from local guys up to the FBI will lie to a perp. They will do and say anything to get the perp to talk or break a law in front of them. Narcs sell drugs to drug dealers. Narcs lie to drug dealers. Not a crime.
The FBI lies during interrogations, trying to trick people to inform on their friends. Not a Crime.
Lie back to the FBI it is a crime.
Congress lies to we the people to often to keep count. Not a crime. Hell they even past legislation that protects them if they use the senate floor to lie. Not a crime.
Lie to Congress and suddenly it's a crime.

Even if you were a witness to a crime and they are only asking what you saw. Have your lawyer there. It isn't that cops are evil. It's that they see everyone as a suspect until proven otherwise.

He never said that, and it's not against the law to lie about something like that unless you know you're being questioned as part of an investigation (which he didn't).
