Canada brings in a ton of immigrants for largely the same reason: a source of cheap(er) labor. Canada's liberal immigration policy isn't entirely for altruistic reasons.
IMO, they are trying to attract US IT to move operations to Canada, because that would bring business to their country.

You'll get no argument from me on your points raised. Our agriculture temp visas are proof positive.

To date however, for higher skilled positions labour laws within Canada stipulate commensurate rates of compensation to wit: 'type of work denoting required similar pay' to a great degree; with the default fall back, or backstop being a plethora of Indian labour lawyers ready and willing to challenge offenders.

They're everywhere, they're everywhere!

I think they're trying to get all the service call centers to move back to Canada, Ma Bell's included.

Call centers operate out of India and the Philippines.

Hence the hope that Indians will bring them over with them when they come.

Tongue in cheek here.

Folks, can we get back on topic and discuss Canada and Indo-Canadians in particular? Whining about H1Bs has little to do with that.

You're right, but the problem is that most Americans posting on here know next to nothing about Canada, let alone its immigration policies and immigrant cultures.

That really isn't surprising, sadly.

Well golly, here we go:

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpce...qnum=010&top=4

To what extent this will illustrate differences in general immigration philosophy from U.S., I have no idea.

You have no idea?

Well...When Indians travel with an Indian passport, some countries deny them entry because they feel Indians are at risk of overstaying their tourist visas. That's why Indians want US passports.
