I thought this was interesting. But it makes me wonder: is this causing a brain drain in India? Canada has been really ramping up the quotas. And from what I hear, enormous amounts of Chinese are coming in annually from Hong Kong.

Quote:
Motivated by more restrictive immigration policies under the Trump administration and the difficulty of obtaining green cards in the United States, the number of Indians obtaining permanent residence in Canada has more than doubled since 2016. Given current trends, Indian scientists and engineers will likely continue to see Canada as an attractive alternative location to make their careers and raise a family.

The number of Indians who became permanent residents in Canada increased from 39,340 in 2016 to 80,685 in 2019, through the first 11 months of 2019, an increase of more than 105%, according to a National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP) analysis of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada data. Full-year Canadian statistics will likely show more than 85,000 Indian immigrants in 2019.

A - Have many friends, neighbors and gym buddies from India. Good people as far as I can tell. They are more than just engineers, IT occupations. Tend to be very family oriented.

B - Brain drain? Not with billions and millions highly educated.

Net economic plus. Smart as heck and usually very well educated.

On average, awful to deal with in business. Cheap and always trying to sneak extras in.

Canada is a large country, plenty of room for educated, hard working Indians.

Natural born Canadians can always get a job at the Elsinore Brewery.

Celebrate diversity! U.S. taxpayers spend $8 billion annually on diversity training. Take that, Canada!

Indian immigrants tend to be the best educated from their country. On the whole a positive asset.

It’s our loss. “Small government” Trump has turned the visa application process into a bureaucratic nightmare.

Isn’t Canadian immigration merit-based? Well if they want to take all the educated Indians then good for them. Great Indian engineers, doctors and scientists. The business ones are a little tough to deal with but that’s the nature of “back home.” Worrying about brain-drain is a done deal, who really cares?

They care about family also meaning not to abandon old people, something Americans could learn about.
