You've really gotta watch this propaganda from the past. It sounds exactly like the manmade global warming narrative that's being pushed on us now. I actually remember this stuff still being taught in schools when I was a little kid.
Some key quotes from the video.
"Climate experts believe the next ice age is on its way."
"Temperatures have been dropping for thirty years."
"Sea coasts long free of summer ice are now blocked year-round"
"According to climatologists, within a lifetime, we may be living in the next ice age"
But somehow the solution is always the same-more taxes, and more sacrifices by the peasants, while the ruling class fly in private jets (cough, Lieawatha, Bernie, cough).
I couldn't help but notice a lot of those articles were from "Christian science", who also believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible. You know, like how the earth is 6k years old and goddunit explains everything.
Pop magazines aside, can you link to actual peer reviewed articles? Journalists are not scientists. They love to sensationalize things, though. Brings in more readers. Peer review is where the real science consensus comes from, not pop magazines.
Global cooling was never the scientific consensus. Warming has always been the trend, with the signal of human influences getting louder and louder after WWII.
There was some slight cooling in the 40s but the second half of the 20th century shows a very clear trend. When societies started cleaning up the air the warming actually speeded up because more radiation was reaching the surface of the planet.
What are you talking about? Temperatures are rising, as are sea levels, billions of tons of ice are disappearing, heat intolerant species are moving towards the poles and growing seasons are beginning earlier and lasting longer, among other changes.
