It is crazy to think but Bernie is rising in the polls and gaining popularity across the boards. If it wasn't for Hillary being served what was owed to her in 2016 Bernie would have been the nominee.

What Bernie is doing to the Democrat candidates is very similar to what Trump did to the Republican candidates in 2016.

Trump told people what they wanted to hear and Bernie seems to be doing the same thing.

I believe that many voters were tired of the same ol same ol the Republicans were pushing in 2016 and Trump captured their imaginations with a fresh new bold message that won them over. I don't think Bernie has a fresh message but he is gaining popularity due to the fact that people are tired of the same ol same ol from the Democrat party.

The question is will the DNC let Bernie have the nomination this time around and if so does he have a chance to beat Trump given how so many are willing to vote for anyone but Trump? If so that could be very scary for the future of our nation.

I was asked this by an inlaw that lives in Ireland back in 2016 concerning the candidates "is that the best you got?" It is still hard to believe that given over 300 million people in the US that our elected are the best and brightest among us and that includes all of the Democrat candidates and Trump as well.

Bernie is the Democrats Trump that is poised to blow up their party and hopefully not America.

In a way, yes.

You can only beat populism with populism.

Let's see. Bernie is a pretty honest and principled politician. Trump is one of the most dishonest and unprincipled in history.

Nope, he's not.

Yes.

IMO, he will further divide the country. We really need someone will unify and work with people on both sides of the aisle. I’m tired of a president who only panders to his base. It’s polarizing.

Is Bernie the Trump of the Democrats?
Very close, but not quite the same. If Bloomberg is successful, he would be more comparable to Trump.

What is clear is that for years now both so-called political parties are moribund, such that they are susceptible to hostile takeovers from outside their normal ranks.

Trump has already been successful at it right up the middle, now so-called democrats have two coming at them from both ends.

If so-called democrats and republicans go the way of the federalists, democratic-republicans, whigs and some others, few will regret it and even fewer will notice it after a few years.

Not sure what makes people think that the best and brightest go into political theater; the best and brightest, besides actually making things in productive businesses, pull the strings and determine the B-grade actors (a few A-graders per century) whom the voters see and their main value is entertainment in theater of the absurd.

Good Luck!

No. Bloomberg is.

Bernie is a Washington political animal (Career politician). He also lacks the strength of will to mold the party sufficiently to allow him to get anything done. Trump Re-formed the Republican party through sheer strength of will. Bernie is not capable of doing that with the Democrats IMO. Bernie also has little to no real world experience, he knows nothing about business, he has no success story and no billions to back him. You want a comparable - Bloomberg.

Except he's not all that different from some of the other Democrats out here. I think he's pretty good, but it's not like he's so different from the other candidates.

The thing that makes Trump stand out from the other Republican candidates is his powers of BS. The other ones, when caught in a lie, will do things like look embarrassed or change their story. Trump just doubles down, which is good enough to fool people. It's human nature to believe someone who keeps insisting something is so even though we know it isn't.
