Romney stands firmly on the status quo. That is a type of conservatism. 2024 is a long way off while Trump drives a bulldozer through Romney's beliefs and ambitions.
If you can find another poll that supports your claim that Romney is very unpopular, I'd be happy to see it.
I chose that particular one because it came out just a few days ago, and was done by the 2nd largest newspaper in the state. The Deseret News, I might add, is basically owned by the Mormon Church, so it hardly would have any sort of liberal bias.
