And the Democrat Party went from JFK, who was fighting against the communists to now a party full of socialist/communist sympathizers like Warren, Sanders, AOC, etc.
What’s your point?
Comparing someone from the Civil War era 150 years ago to now doesn’t make any sense. Different era, different world, different needs, etc.

The point is look, look at the video and dont think for yourself.

I was going to rep you again anti but can't - I had the same thoughts concerning how my party has changed from JFK's policies which would be considered more like the GOP of today into many supporting socialism.
Actually, both the Republicans AND the Democrats were closer to socialism around 1900, at least their presidential candidates were.
Democrats nominated William Jennings Bryan for president three times. The first two times were against the plutocrat William McKinley. In that second election, McKinley's running mate was future president Theodore Roosevelt.
Apparently, the plutocrats wanted Roosevelt as McKinley's vice-president to shut him up, because they had no idea that McKinley was gonna get assassinated and Roosevelt would become president. But he was popular, so he won the Republican nomination the next election.
Teddy Roosevelt and Bryan both have a lot in common with Bernie Sanders. It's interesting to note that Roosevelt and Bryan both ran for president three times, but they never actually ran against each other.

Reason: Reduce spacing
Reflection = liberal/left slanted summary that omits way more than it admits, and uses subjective description as statement of fact.
Rebuttal: First of all, Lincoln was no special friend to slaves or blacks in general, and there are quotes aplenty that affirm this. He was also an unabashed totalitarian whenever the mood struck him, which was often. This too is well documented.
The fat cat narrative is also ironic given the editorial that comes right before it about "fighting the Civil War to save the Republic!" That wasn't what the Civil War was about at all. The Union didn't care about the Republic, they cared about the money that came from the export of cotton and other agriculture staples from the CSA. The secession of those 11 states put a serious dent in the Northern economy, as well as the US trade balance with Europe. Ending slavery and "saving the Republic" were marketing slogans around the real purpose of the war - bring those southern states to heel and renew cashing in on their agri-business.
The point being, fat cats wanting paid was happening in the North long before Lincoln and his Republican party. In fact, the entire reason we have things like the 10th Amendment, the Electoral College, etc is because the anti-federalists and anti-constitution folks of the pre-Constitution colonies didn't want the fat cats of the three richest colonies running everything based on their power and money.
Next rebuttal - FDR didn't rescue the US from the Great Depression. He made it worse and also last longer. That's also well documented. The person most directly responsible for alleviating the Great Depression, worldwide mind you, was Adolf Hitler. Nothing gets an economy humming along like cranked up military spending. Plus, all the bombs tat blow stuff up serve two really useful economic purposes. First, you need to build more bombs to replace the ones already used, and second, all the stuff that those bombs blew up will need rebuilt. War is a fantastic economic booster. Give Hitler the credit he deserves for rescuing the world from global depression, because he got that ball rolling for everyone.
Plus, virtually everything FDR implemented in the US prior to the war, that was making the Depression worse, was his plagiarizing of the NSDAP's 25 points primarily. He was riffing off Hitler, and doing so poorly because the good stuff wasn't done enough and he tried to avoid all the bad stuff that Hitler and his Nazis accepted as the price to pay for economic reset.
Next point - notice how quickly we jump forward in time? Went right from the "uh oh, here come the fat cats in the North who are all Republican" point to 1929. Uhm, that leaves out at least three very important things relative to the growth of government - Woodrow Wilson's dawning of the Progressive era, the 16th Amendment, and the contrast between the small government & non-meddlesome Coolidge and the big government, pro meddling Hoover.
Also, the three biggest expansions of the welfare state happened under Wilson, FDR and LBJ. Much of what gets blamed on Republicans stems from those three expansions. I do blame them 100% for jumping onboard the welfare state graft/racketeering train the Democrats were running, no doubt. That said, the train itself was built, hooked together and started rolling by Democrat power.
Final analysis = like all things partisan, that video depends almost entirely on the ignorance of the person watching it. If you aren't wildly ignorant about US history, particular political history, then it's just this week's latest "why GOP am teh badz, omfgroflbbq!!" offering that will be 100% approved by left partisans and 100% denied by right partisans.
the video although generic is pretty close to accurate...i LOVE how conservatives poo-poo history..lol the religious right has been trying since Goldwater to have a say in politics...they have now resurrected the confederacy and are in their Glory..this to shall pass lol
